New Era Cap Flagship Stores to Now Carry NBA Licensed Caps

The relationship between New Era Cap, the leading headwear designer and manufacturer, and the National Basketball Association (NBA) dates back to the late 1990s, when New Era began designing and creating caps with the franchise’s Hardwood Classic logos.
Now, with the playoffs are finally upon us, New Era Cap has great news for NBA fans! Starting on April 22nd, 2009, fans can walk into any New Era Flagship store in North America (Atlanta, Buffalo, New York City and Toronto) and purchase their favorite NBA team cap on a signature 59FIFTY. In the past, New Era NBA fitted caps could only be purchased at NBA arenas.
Each of the 30 NBA teams as well as “Logoman” will be featured in each Flagship store. New Era will continue to carry Hardwood Classic caps as well. Later this year, there are plans to launch various fashion colors featuring NBA logos.
I could really use a USB Turntable like this…
Vinyl is back in style, along with those trusty turntables from the early days. But times have changed and now you can enjoy that warm, rich sound of a vinyl record on your iPod.
The recently introduced Stanton T.55 USB is a reliable and user-friendly belt-drive turntable that features a straight tone arm, which give the unit superior tracking. Features include a USB and RCA output so you can easily use the deck to transfer the music on your vinyl records onto your PC or MAC to create music files for use with CDs or MP3 players. Also included is the software needed to transfer and edit the music files, so you can remove any pops and clicks that are common when playing vinyl. The T.55 USB comes with the professional Stanton 500.v3 cartridge for ideal sound quality and perfect compatibility. Not just a tool for vinyl transfer, this deck is also a perfect fit for the novice or intermediate level DJ. The Stanton T.55 retails for $199.
Vinyl sales have grown 15% year-over-year in 2007 and 89% in 2008. Recently, major record labels have re-mastered and re-released marquee titles with their original artwork and packaging.*

J DILLA “JAY STAY PAID”. NEW ALBUM FROM THE LATE HIP-HOP LEGEND J DILLA COMING JUNE 2. DOWNLOAD THE ‘BEAT JUNKIES’ ALBUM SAMPLER MIX HERE:
Executive produced by Dilla’s mother, Ms. Yancey AKA “Madukes
By now most everyone is familiar with the story of musical legend J Dilla. The quiet, prolific producer collaborated with everyone from Eryka Badu to Common to Janet Jackson to Prince. Dilla was just beginning to capitalize on his cult status when he sadly passed at age 32 due to Lupus-related complications. Jay Stay Paid is a 28 track collection of unreleased Dilla beats mixed and arranged by Pete Rock. While mostly instrumental, “J$P” also offers a few guests vocals from artists that Dilla worked with or admired including Black Thought of The Roots, MF DOOM, Havoc of Mobb Deep, M.O.P. , Raekwon and more.
Curtailing any notion of jumping on some sort of Dilla bangwagon, Jay Stay Paid was executive produced by Dilla’s mother Maureen Yancey (aka Ma Dukes) along with the musical supervision of Dilla’s only real musical idol, Pete Rock. “It wasn’t rushed and it wasn’t haphazard,” explains Ms Yancey. “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. Its mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.”
The format of the album plays like a radio show with Pete Rock as the program director. With regards to Pete’s involvement, Ms. Yancey gets very excited, “Dilla wanted to pattern himself behind Pete. His dream was to become as close as possible to what Pete stood for. Pete meant everything to him. Dilla would have just been flabbergasted! ” Pete’s sentiments were the same toward Dilla, “Dude was amazing. He just kinda came outta nowhere and the more you heard his beats the better they got. He may not be here with us, but it’s all good we’re going to keep his music alive and well.”

Good news for California’s work-weary and party-deprived: the dance music masterminds behindHARD New Year’s Eve and the sold out HARD Haunted Mansion will return to Los Angeles with their signature mega-party this summer.
British music stalwarts Underworld will transform the 15,000-capacity LA Forum into the world’s largest dance club. 2009′s HARD Summer lineup speaks to the broad, multi-faceted appeal that has made HARD’s events so successful. Veterans Underworld opened electronic music’s floodgates with their daring mega-hit “Born Slippy .NUXX” (UK #2) and its pivotal role in the film Trainspotting. The duo earned the respect of critics and fans with their unforgettable, accomplished performances and ever-evolving style. The slick synth-pop of Chromeo jostles up against the arty bit-crushed productions of Crystal Castles and the high-tech eclecticism of Tiga. The Remix Project Holds GIVE MONEY, MAKE CHANGE Fundraiser To Raise $100,000
Youth Crime Prevention Program Stages Last Attempt
The Remix Project, a United Nations award-winning National Crime Prevention Canada program, is holding a fundraising event on June 11, 2009 as part of efforts to help save its courses and find a new home.
The Remix Project is a successful three-year-old program funded originally through a research and pilot grant by the National Crime Prevention Canada (NCPC). The program serves gifted but under-served and vulnerable young people across the GTA through courses fostering arts, cultural and life skills. As a result of its work, The Remix Project has helped to keep a number of young people off the streets and produced talented, newly motivated individuals. Over 110 graduates have been able to realize their creative and business potentials.
The NCPC funds research and pilot programs only, and The Remix Project’s research component has ended. As such, though the NCPC believes the program is a success and would like to see it replicated in other cities, it is no longer able to continue funding. In addition, The Remix Project is seeking a new home for September 1st, since its current location will soon be transformed into condominium developments. Gavin Sheppard, the program’s co-ordinator, feels it would be a shame to see the program go. “We would hate to be put in a situation where we have to stop helping GTA youth, especially the ones who have gone through so much, who have had so many obstacles, so many barriers placed in their way and just need the right support and a simple push in the right direction” he said.
With a $100,000 goal, The Remix Project hopes its fundraising event will save the program. GIVE MONEY, MAKE CHANGE will be a multi-faceted event including photography and visual arts installations, performances, a silent auction and a pledge-driven dance.
Those interested in supporting The Remix Project can contact Gavin Sheppard at 647-330-6345.
