DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES (D.I.T.C.) MCS, O.C. & A.G., TEAM UP TO RELEASE LONG AWAITED ALBUM
New collaborative LP from A.G. & O.C., OASIS, featuring production from fellow D.I.T.C. members Show & Lord Finesse, set to drop Nov. 24th on Nature Sounds / D.I.T.C. Records
Legendary New York MCs, O.C. & A.G. return from a brief hiatus to quench the thirst of hip-hop fans worldwide. The album, refreshingly titled, OASIS, is executive produced by Show (of Showbiz & AG fame) and features stellar production by Show, Lord Finesse, E. Blaze, and Statik Selektah. O & A, longtime friends and crewmates, first collaborated together on the classic track “Weed & Drinks” and ever since then talked about doing a whole album together.
“Its was organic cause the chemistry was also so crazy, explains OC. “The whole process was really pure and from the heart and hip-hop fans are gonna love it!,” says AG about their new album.
Born in the Brooklyn and raised in Queens, O.C grew up across the street from another lyrical legend, Pharoahe Monch of Organized Konfusion. That neighbor spawned O.C’s recording debut was in 1991 on Organized Konfusion’s classic “Fudge Pudge. O.C. was tour when he first ran into D.I.T.C. members Lord Finesse & Buckwild. After the tour, Buckwild and O.C worked on a demo that would eventually become the Wild Pitch Records classic, Word…Life which contained the classic lyrical assault Time’s Up, later featured on Eminem’s biopic, 8 Mile.
Andre the Giant, better known as A.G., began his rise to acclaim the day Lord Finesse showed up at his school to challenge any lyricist that dared to battle. AG stood up to Finesse, line for line and Finesse couldn’t help but take notice of the hungry rapper. While in the studio contributing to Lord Finesse’s upcoming LP Funky Technician, AG met Showbiz for the first time. The bond was instant and the newly formed duo began their career by selling self-financed Soul Clap EP out of the trunk of Show’s Acura Legend coupe. Their first LP, “Runaway Slave”, put the spotlight back on the Bronx and heavily influenced the whole modern East Coast style of rap. Their sound was a combination of mobster influence, thoughtful lyricism, and amazing production that became synonymous with the D.I.T.C crew.
With a combined 10+ albums under their belt, its amazing how the guys stay relevant after all these years. A.G. explains, “For me, it’s the passion, when you’re passionate about something, you stay inspired, through the good and the bad”. When speaking about the significance of the album title OASIS, O.C adds “ˆIt’s 2009 and both AG and myself have something new and fresh to offer. Fans have been searching for something like this for a long time and finally here it is”
Toolshed’s Chokeules Releases Hypergraphia
The world of underground hip-hop can be a saturated one. It takes an immediate yet proven voice to stand out and rise above mediocracy. And who better to make that move than Chokeules, emcee from the legendary Canadian hip-hop team of Toolshed. Masters of the underground scene in their own right, Toolshed provided the foundation for Chokeules to make the leap into mainstream hip-hop domination with the release of Hypergraphia, his newest record.
Loaded with intricate rhyme schemes, dense wordplay and touching on everything from self-introspection and the state of modern hip-hop, Hypergraphia is a bold, confident step for Chokeules. Having shared the stage in both Canada and the United States with established acts such as El Da Sensai (Artifacts), Aceyalone, Devin The Dude, Lootpack and Swollen Members, Chokeules has paid his dues in the underground and on Hypergraphia, sounds poised and hungry for a bigger piece of Canadian hip-hop.
It is Chokeules’ aggressive and relentless stage presence that sets him apart, evident on “Stand Out,” one of the first tracks available on the album. Thick beats move back and forth between groovy and heavy territory, yet they propel Chokeules’ lyrics to a whole new stratsophere. Already lauded with Toolshed in Exclaim! Magazine as “…one more reason to be proud of Canadian hip-hop,” one thing is for sure: this is only the beginning of the rise of Chokeules.

Trinity Releases Video For Their Debut Single “Roc Raida Tribute”
Following the release of their first single as a group, “Roc Raida Tribute,” Fat Beats super groupTrinity has released a new video with exclusive footage of the late great DJ Roc Raida along with studio clips of the trifecta in the studio recording their infectious tribute to one of hip-hop’s most highly regarded DJ’s.
The buzz has been swelling since the announcement of the group consisting of emcees AG, Sadat X, and Fat Beats owner DJ Jab on the boards. Their recent debut single has been hitting numerous blogs and websites all across the Internet so it’s only fitting for the group to release a video to accompany the song. The video is sure to stir feelings of nostalgia as it starts off with clips from the ’95 Technics World DJ Championship where Raida proudly proclaims, “We bringin’ it back to the USA!”
What follows is in-studio footage of the group recording their tribute alongside clips of Roc Raida at work on the ones and twos. Raida makes it look too easy as he showcases his undeniable talent. Raida effortlessly scratches between two records, even backwards, not even breaking a sweat in the process. He even goes as far as manipulating the fader with his nose to much fanfare in the video. The video no doubt proves that hip-hop lost a great talent in Roc Raida, but with groups like Trinity showing love and support, his memory will not be forgotten.

ONLY THE DEAD SEE THE END OF THE WAR EP OUT MARCH 9th ON VICE RECORDS, FREE DOWNLOAD FOR “GARDEN OF STONES”
While his name might register on more than a few “newcomer” lists, Raphael Saadiq’s impressive resume stretches over two decades and time logged with classic groups Tony! Toni! Toné! and Lucy Pearl, before his solo bow in 2002 with Instant Vantage, a confident collection that landed a record-setting five Grammy nods. After a six year hiatus, The Way I See It emerged in 2008 to a chorus of praise in the pages of Rolling Stone and landing at the number one slot on the iTunes Best Of list. Overflowing with dusty, vintage jams for new school ears, The Way updates classic soul with Saadiq’s decidedly modern sensibilities. Unsurprisingly, Saadiq’s drive to re-prove himself reverberates from every moment of the album, a star-studded affair that boasts the talents of Joss Stone, Stevie Wonder and the incomparable king of New York, Jay Z. With a brand new video for The Way standout “Staying In Love,” and a song slated to appear in forthcoming indie film Precious, Saadiq kicked off a tour of the West Coast earlier this week.
