Gillette Turns Shaving Into Gliding

gillette-fusion-proglide-power-backgillette-fusion-proseries-thermal-face-scrubIt’s no secret that men have often felt discomfort when shaving, yet despite Gillette’s advanced technology and numerous shaving innovations like Mach3 and Fusion, that ‘tug and pull’ feeling (which can lead to skin irritation) has remained a constant burden– until now. After years of development Gillette has answered man’s demand for a more comfortable shave with the NEW Gillette Fusion ProGlide shaving system and NEW Gillette Fusion ProSeries skin care line-up.

Available just in time for Father’s Day, Gillette Fusion ProGlide and Gillette Fusion ProSeries are the result of years of R&D and more than 30,000 consumer trials. Gillette Fusion ProGlide improves on the 5-bladed Gillette Fusion shaving system and the introduction of a new skin care line-up enables a close, comfortable pre and post-shave experience.  Gillette Fusion ProGlide offers seven upgrades – the most prominent:  thinner, finer blades with increased stability that help the razor glide across a man’s face while shaving.

Introducing JAMAICA – produced by Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk sound Engineer Peter Franco!

“I Think I Like U 2″

STEP 1: CHOOSE A NAME

When French born Antoine Hilaire and Flo Lyonnet decided to start a band, they spent many hours trying to think of the name that they would forever be remembered by. They were surprised to find that no one had ever used the bold and smarty, JAMAICA.

STEP 2: WRITE SONGS

They took three weeks to write songs that focused not only on sleek melodies, but also on rousing guitar riffs and dry bass grooves. By scattering in piano chords or acoustic guitars as well as resurrecting the guitar solo, JAMAICA created a sound that is a meeting between a grungehead’s obsession and a rockers wet dream.

STEP 3: RECORD THE SONGS

Before they could begin recording the album, JAMAICA had to find someone up to the challenge of producing their songs. Antoine and Flo looked through lists of Grammy Award winners and came up with two candidates: Peter J. Franco and Xavier de Rosnay. Both were available and agreed to work with the band on one condition: that no synthesizers would be involved. Shortly thereafter they settled into Motorbass studio in Paris, France with a minimal and unconventional set up. Within a few months they had completed an album which meets today’s thirst for chromed production.

STEP 4: SHOOT A VIDEO

With its upbeat structure and cocky guitar chorus JAMAICA’s “I Think I Like U 2″ seemed an appropriate starting point for a first video and to present the storyline of the duo. Fortunately Antoine and Flo had a talented young video director among their friends by the name of So-Me. His brilliant idea was to structure the video relaying the band’s history from A to (fabricated) Z.  The video follows the musicians from their modest beginnings and the formation of the band through JAMAICA becoming an overwhelming international success to their fall into psychedelic trips and eventually jail.

GORILLAZ RELEASE NEW ONLINE GAME AND SINGLE PACKAGE

gorillaz-escape-to-plastic-beach-chapter-1-car-chase-free-to-play-online-gameGorillaz, the world’s leading animated band release a brand new, multi level online game with their new single Superfast Jellyfish

Parlophone has confirmed the release of “Escape to Plastic Beach” – a multi level, multi format game release that takes fans on the Gorillaz journey to their new headquarters on Plastic Beach. The game also includes an MP3 download of the band’s new single ‘Superfast Jellyfish’ taken from their new album Plastic Beach.

“Escape to Plastic Beach” is the first game of its type merging numerous levels of Flash and Unity formats along with a new single MP3 to create an audio, visual, graphical and gaming experience to expand fans’ experience of an album. Increasing the experience beyond traditional album release – the game features original artwork, voiceovers from the band and numerous other tracks from the new Gorillaz album.

“Escape to Plastic Beach” starts by recreating the events from the ‘Stylo’ music video in a free-to-play, 2D online game that sees Murdoc, singer 2D and Cyborg Noodle on their journey from the mainland to Plastic Beach. It continues underwater with Murdoc’s daring underwater rescue of the band, and then beyond taking players direct to Plastic Beach HQ in a challenging eight level, 3D pay-to-play game.  The final chapter of the game also includes an MP3 download of the band’s new single ‘Superfast Jellyfish’ featuring De La Soul and Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals.

Gorillaz Bassist, Murdoc stars as the main protagonist in “Escape to Plastic Beach” but will also play the game along with fellow members Cyborg Noodle and 2D – posting scores which fans can view and compete against via a global high score table.  Fans who bought the “Experience” edition of the album had an exclusive preview of the 3D gliding game chapter as part of the extra content offered via the CD.  Experience buyers will also be able to access the entire game in full, for free via their copy of Plastic Beach. Fans can also save their high scores in the members area of www.Gorillaz.com.

Murdoc Niccals himself says:“Hey! This is fan-tastic. Some top-notch gonk gaming company have made a Gorillaz game that you can play free online. It’s all based on Plastic Beach, and it features me, 2D and my cyborg Noodle! What’s even better is that if you pay the £1.50 for the last part, you get our new single “Superfast Jellyfish”, and that’s got ‘Super Furry’ Gruff and the De La Soul boys on it! El Caminos, Boogiemen, ghostly pirate ships, underwater chases, mines, fat cops and gun battles all wrapped up in some snazzy new gaming technology and a great new Gorillaz track too…I mean, what more could you want? Come n’ play with me and Gorillaz onPlastic Beach and see how far that gets you…”

Online games have already proved powerful viral marketing tools for EMI Music enabling them to reach a target audience that have turned off from traditional radio, TV and press communications. This project is another collaboration with worldwide casual/advergaming experts, Matmi, who have pioneered promotional online tactics with EMI for a number of years.

About the Game: http://www.gorillaz.com/escapetoplasticbeach

Chapters One and Two (free-to-play online game).

Out-run and out-gun the cops and then evade the ruthless El Camino as the band makes its way to Plastic Beach.  Mixing up retro-2D and 2.5D graphics with footage from the Stylo video, Chapter One puts the fate of the band in your hands.

In Chapter Two, guide Murdoc in an underwater rescue of Cyborg Noodle and 2D, avoiding mines and hostile sea-life over three challenging levels of aquatic action into the waiting submarine.

Chapter Three (pay-to-play online game).

A 3D (Unity) action game in which Murdoc floats and fights above Plastic Beach HQ on his Doom Glider to foil 2D’s repeated escape attempts whilst battling ghost pirate ships. Original artwork and Gorillaz voiceovers plus numerous increasingly difficult and complex levels immerses players in their own personal experience of Plastic Beach.

Appearing on the hip-hop scene with their self-titled three-song EP, which gives  a taste of what’s to come, The Random Humans strive to display a real expression of a generation’s musical influences and have only begun to scratch the surface.

Deception

With his quick wit and instinctual gift for spitting rhymes, Deception developed a love for expression through music after seeing his first freestyle battle in 2002. Since cutting his teeth writing and experimenting with over 100 songs, the Longview, Alberta native offers up a steady flow to accompany the beats provided by the talented beatsmith, Bear.

Bear

A Calgary native, the innovative beat machine first moved to Vancouver in 2006 to gain recording experience with Canadian producer Rob Shallcross (Chicken). Shallcross, a Juno award-winning engineer, is known for his handy work in the metal community (Gwar, Strapping Young Lad, Gene Hoglan, Meldrum), but after being approached for the project by Bear and listening to the demos, Shallcross saw the limitless potential of these two hidden gems and effected an immediate collaboration.

MMA Expo Forced to Cancel April 10-11 Event in BC

notradeximageSo sorry, MMA Fans… but they killed the show.
Frankly I barely know where to begin.
Please understand that while I would like to be as direct as possible there is probably a court date or five coming up on this issue and I have to be sensitive about what I say beforehand.

Bottom line? In my 20 years in the exhibition and show business I have never heard of anything such as this cancellation fiasco. Without any notice, forewarning or discussion, the City of Abbotsford put a stop to MMA Expo at their TRADEX Exhibition Centre. The reason give, delivered in an email just 15 working days before the event, was “concern over the possibility of rival gang member attendance”.  ???

In my opinion this was a totally bogus reason with absolutely no basis in fact.

We scrambled all week to recover, found another venue, signed another contract for space at the Pacific National Exhibition and began rebuilding the event in the new location. The following day when I refused to agree to what I considered to be unreasonable restrictions on the format of MMA Expo show floor feature areas – i.e. no grappling tournaments, only ONE person demos allowed???, amongst other things – we were denied the opportunity to proceed with MMA Expo at the PNE as well.  Brutal.

For the official Press Release detailing the reasons for the cancellationclick here.
