The Summer Jobs for Youth Program is funded by the Ontario government as part of its Youth Opportunities Strategy. The program is managed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and administered by Tropicana Community Services. This is the fifth year of the program geared toward helping young people faced with challenges achieve individual success and build stronger, safer communities.
On March 18, 2010 we will be holding our Youth Symposium at the Metropolitan Hotel located in downtown Toronto . The Youth Symposium will cater to young people between the ages of the 15 and 18 years of age and living in one of the thirteen underserved communities of Toronto .
We at Tropicana realise that many of our young people overcome insurmountable obstacles that can vary from struggling in school or dropping out, to violence in their local communities. Tropicana Community Services is committed to encouraging marginalized youth to strive for excellence in whatever they endeavour. This Youth Symposium will serve as one of the tools to empower and equip young people with the skills and resources needed to propel themselves in positions where they can be leaders in their communities! In addition the symposium aims at connecting young people with professionals that can assist them in accomplishing their goals.
