Little Brother – “So Cold” Feat. Chaundon

lb-albumcoverLittle Brother Releases Latest Track From Farewell Album, LeftBack

In preparation for the release of their forthcoming album, LeftBack, the North Carolina duo Little Brother is proud to release the album’s latest track, featuring fellowJustus League emcee and long-time collaborator Chaundon. Produced byKing Karnov, the song begins with a commanding drumbeat, wobbly bass line, and warped keyboard effects, shortly joined by a soulful intro and hook. Once the distorted sounds and old school vibe are set, ,Phonte, and the Bronx’s ownChaundon command the instrumental, each taking turns over the song’s three verses. The smooth feel is complimented by “So Cold’s” underlying theme – Big Pooh and Phonte live the high life from their musical success but haven’t changed from the fame – and a catchy hook, “We love to party/ Love to ball/ Love to floss with no shame/ We act a fool/ We rock with jewels/ Got people calling our names/ So plain to see/ I can’t believe you ever thought that I’d change/ So could about 20 below.” The chemistry between the emcees is apparent throughout the track, continuing a long line of quality collaborations between the three. Chaundon explains, “The definition of soul, lyricism, and timeless music. Little Brother and Chaundon are ‘So Cold’.” Always down to make dope joints as a team, this latest installment is no different.

Look out for the official video for “Curtain Call” and some exclusive behind the scenes footage from the shoot coming soon.

Little Brother’s fourth and final album, LeftBack, will be available April 20, 2010 via Hall Of Justus.

TELEPHONED BIO
Telephoned was born one night in Brooklyn when DJ/producer Sammy Bananas (Fool’s Gold) and singer/party starter Maggie Horn (Good Peoples) decided to record their own version of T-Pain’s “Can’t Believe It.” Their track was neither remix nor cover – instead, the duo fashioned a postmodern take on both, warping the original beat into a hypnotic club track and bringing out the dreamy qualities only hinted at in Pain’s auto-tuned melodies. Sammy and Maggie’s fresh “Can’t Believe It” quickly became a DJ favorite – even making it into mix rotation on LA hip-hop station Power 106! – so they decided to keep recording as a team, cleverly named after the kids game of Telephone: no faithful copies, just a party line of unexpected twists. Whether morphing Ron Browz “Pop Champagne” into a spacey dancefloor gem (“Bottle service electro meets Triplets Of Belleville” says Ms Horn), dubstepping “Turn My Swag On,” or re-imagining DJ Webstar’s “Dancin On Me” as a BK funky anthem, these Telephoned covers are instantly addictive and massively charming. Their self titled EP and free mixtape “Off The Hook” turn pop into new-school standards, putting a fresh spin on party music. Telephoned is off the hook!

Orgone – Time Tonight 12” Single

orgone-stitchOrgone are back with a new single, including an exclusive extended funky dub mix, as a taster from their forthcoming Cali Fever album.

“Time Tonight” is a gigantic skanking summertime smash bringing together elements of classic garage, disco and live house in a gritty floor filling jam. And from the Orgone library “The Big Escape” combines the essence of the the bands raw sound and heavy beats with a cinematic spaced out approach, available only on this 12”.

Rising from an ever-growing Los Angeles soulful musical family (members have also played with Connie Price and the Keystones, Breakestra, Dakah, Rhythm Roots Allstars, The Lions, the Simple Citizens, etc) Orgone have spent the last couple of years honing their own sound by gigging non-stop – opening recently for Al Green and Gil Scott-Heron. With a deep-rooted appreciation of funk, soul, afrobeat, and an intimate understanding of DJ culture, Orgone naturally slide through multiple styles producing dynamic performances and are ready to drop an eclectic album which captures the energy and power of the live sets.

“Cali Fever refers to the vibes and energy coming out of California, specifically LA,” explains the band. “Coastal environments breed a certain sound- New Orleans, Brooklyn, the Bay Area, Miami. LA has a sound and a feeling for all of us and that’s how we approached this record…it’s an amalgamation of the eclectic things we’ve learned & heard mostly growing up in LA. We aspire to represent where we come from.”

The main event of the evening features three-time NCAA wrestling champion Jake Rosholt (7-2) facing veteran Jeremy Horn (84-19-5) in a 195-pound catch-weight bout. Rosholt is looking to get back on track after a 1-2 run in the UFC. “Jeremy Horn has found a way to win 84 times – it will be an interesting test for Jake Rosholt at this point in his career,” said Andrew Simon, CEO of HDNet Fights. “Also, the rest of the card offers fans a chance to see the next generation of MMA stars.”

In the co-main event of the evening, Rosholt’s “Team Takedown” teammate David Shepherd (4-0 with 4 submissions) defends his KOTC Lightweight title against Detroit’s own Dom O’Grady (8-2).

In other action, submission expert Joe Doerksen (43-12) looks to expand his four fight win streak as he takes on Chad Herrick (6-4), and Daron Cruickshank (3-0) meets Jason Holmes (6-1). Plus Ben Lagman (5-1) takes on Angelo Popofski (13-7) and Waylon Lowe (7-2) meets Steve Berger (21-19-2).

A previously announced bout between former boxing heavyweight champion Ray Mercer and Ron Sparks was a late scratch from the card due to an injury suffered by Mercer.
