The Remix Projects Holds GIVE MONEY, MAKE CHANGE Fundraiser
The Remix Project, a United Nations award-winning National Crime Prevention Canada program, is holding a fundraising event on Thursday, June, 10th 2010 for the Toronto based youth program.
The Remix Project is a successful four-year-old program that was orginally funded through a research and pilot grant by National Crime Prevention Canada (NCPC). The program offers courses fostering arts, cultural and life skills and serves gifted but under-served and vulnerable young people from across the GTA. As a result of its work, The Remix Project has helped keep a number of young people off the streets and has produced over 110 graduates that have been able to realize their creative and business potentials.
“I think one of the key reasons Remix has been so successful is that we really listen to and invest in, some of the most vulnerable but gifted young people in the GTA. One of the most reward things is to see our young people achieve dreams that they previously thought to be impossible” said Executive Director, Gavin Sheppard. “Producing award-winning DJ’s, clothing lines, music composers and producers as well as photographers, graphic designers and budding journalists, The Remix Project is helping to mature and evolve the next generation of creative and civic leaders in this beautiful city named Toronto. That being said, we are in a really hard place this year financially and this amazing program that we pour ourselves into every day, is genuinely in danger of having to close it’s doors…”
With a $100,000 goal, The Remix Project hopes its fundraising event will save the program. GIVE MONEY, MAKE CHANGE (part 2) will be a multi-faceted event including photography and visual arts installations, performances, a silent auction and a pledge-driven dance
Those interested in supporting The Remix Project can contact Gavin Sheppard at 647-962-3564.

touch & nato feat. vinnie paz
Touch and Nato, the most under-rated rap band of all time, has partnered up with Western Canada’s iconic super label Neferiu Records to drop two of the most anticipated albums in Inglewood and 182 (and 93rd Avenue) history.
With the contractual details hammered out over the course of 54 text messages, and fortified with a firm cyber handshake, Neferiu Records is proud to announce that Touch will release a solo album entitled “Alienated” in August while Touch & Nato will follow it up with their second album as a duo.
What, exactly, does it mean now that Touch & Nato have teamed up with Neferiu Records?
In four words: They now have a budget.
And in four more words: It is now gone.
Apparently some of the contractual text messages were lost on the Telus network because unbeknownst to label execs, it has been agreed that the entirety of Neferiu’s profits from the last 10 years of operation have been devoted to securing a high profile guest feature spot from the Jedi Mind microphone handler known asVinnie Paz.
Due to the un-forseen loss of finances, Neferiu have decided that the only way to get this track out is to drop it as a free download. Grab it today. And if you see any Neferiu Records execs busking on a local street corner, don’t hesitate to throw them some change.
This s–t is Mad Real.

Apollo Brown – “Hungry” Feat. Rapper Big Pooh And Black Milk
Last week Detroit producer, Apollo Brown, delivered us his latest album, The Reset. The project features a variety of exceptional MC’s atop Apollo’s soulful production, including Rapper Big Pooh and Black Milk, on the track “Hungry“. With a hard-hitting beat and rhymes from the two MC’s to match, the track is filled with energy. “Hungry” leads off with a verse from Big Pooh, who recounts his hard work and also takes some time to celebrate his successes. The second verse comes from Black Milk, as he lays a series of bragadoccio rhymes over Apollo’s heavy drums and mix of vocal, horn, and organ chops. Following each verse is the repeating mantra of the song, rapped by Black Milk, “I can’t sleep, I’m on the grind, I’m hungry”; a simple hook that’s pounded into the heads of listeners as a firm proclamation of ambition.
Apollo Brown’s The Reset is now available via Mello Music Group.
