“We’re just starting to get things going but we’ve been making hiphop for 10 years and have a lot of love for the music. This record was made using a full band with live drums, bass, and guitar, and then Vocals. We’re about Peace, the environment and good tunes.”
The eclectically talented Georgia Anne Muldrow will be releasing her latest project, VWETO – the album title means “gravity” in Swahili – exclusively on iTunes today with the worldwide release, both physical and digital, to follow on January 25, 2011. The album is a tour-de-force when it comes to musical exploration taking on influences from “Fonkrock” and Hip-Hop and runs the gambit all the way down to Piano Space. Innovative and avant-garde, Muldrow’s new album is a breath of fresh air as the songstress and producer continues to push musical boundaries.
To accompany the digital release of the instrumental project, Georgia Anne Muldrow is releasing her first single from the album. “fOnkRocker” goes in hard as the music mimics the tracks title by giving off a heavy dose of funked up base lines accompanied by a fierce Rock ‘N’ Roll vibe. The melodic track incorporates rolling beats – beats fit for both swank underground lounges and clubs. The track embodies the essence of what this West Coast artist has become so successful at: meshing together styles and creating a sound that is fresh and transcendent among any genre.
Georgia Anne Muldrow’s VWETO is available now on iTunes via Mello Music Group.

While outside may feel like a winter wonderland, this next serving from Cali rapper Mr. Brady has a warm, laid back feel – one that harkens memories of past summer seasons – with “Get Choze,” the latest single from Labor of Love, Brady’s latest release on Clear Label Records. Produced by Brady, himself – Mr. Brady eschews rhyming on Labor Of Love, instead handling production duties for the entire album – the producer/rapper acquired the collaborative efforts of the legendary Diamond D and fellow west coast rapper Blu.
It was after a connection on MySpace between Brady and Diamond D that the track came to be, and with Brady’s vision to bring the old school and new school together, Blu added the perfect final piece. “I wanted to bridge the gap between the O.G’s like Diamond D and artists that I consider to be the future, like Blu,” explains Brady. “Nobody is really doing that right now and making it sound right, so I wanted to do something different, something that I thought would sound right.”

PRODUCED AND DIRECTED BY CARLOS CHARLES PEREZ
Chris Young the Rapper, Bananabeat Records’ premiere artist, just released a new music video for his single “Stop” off his EP “1991.” Carlos Charles Perez, who is known for his work with the Grammy-nominated band Vampire Weekend, produced and directed the video.
In the music video for “Stop,” a beat with soul and conscious rhymes, the unorthodox pairing of indie, avant-garde Carlos Charles Perez and unconventional Chris Young The Rapper creates a style of execution that showcases hip hop in its truest form. The video is the perfect compliment to the “1991” EP, an homage to the golden-era of hip hop.
“You wouldn’t normally expect to see a hip-hop video done in this style and manner that has the signature look from a talent like Carlos, but I’m not a typical hip-hop guy,” Chris Young The Rapper said.
Florida native Carlos Charles Perez has quickly been making a name for himself with his unique artistry. In addition to filming for Vampire Weekend, Perez has produced and directed for Los Angeles avant-electronic artist Glasser, Afro-pop artist Jankay Nabay from Sierra Leone, and Brooklyn noise rockers Fiasco.
“It felt right to do this video with Chris Young. His style is timeless and when I heard his music I had a vision in my mind about what this could translate to on film. Our styles combined create a vibe that’s just right,” said Perez.
When DJ Premier collaborated with KRS-One in 1995, they gave us “Rappaz R. N. Dainja,” “MCs Act Like They Don’t Know,” and “Wannabemceez.” In other words: Songs you should own. Now add “5%” to that catalog, where KRS’ frog-throated, gruff voice attacks Premier’s ferocious and fractured beat. KRS isn’t quite as lively a rapper as he used to be, but his slower flow sounds better as he ages. And Premier is in fine form here, a sliver of rising strings occasionally peeking out of a minimal yet hard-hitting beat. Add a verse from Brand Nubian’s Grand Puba and you have a ’90s throwback that sounds very appropriate for falling temperatures.
Hosted by Mr. Peter Parker, the project features 15 brand new cuts (and one bonus track) by the Northeastern buzzmaker responsible for such hits as “Philly Love” and “Class Is in Session.”
Seattle beatsmith Vitamin D handles all production throughout the street album, which comes complete with guest appearances from Freeway and S Dot.
