Hey, Atmosphere just put out this posse cut featuring everyone joining them on the upcoming “Welcome To Minnesota” tour. They’re playing 5 shows in as many days, all within their home state (dates below).
Atmosphere- “Minnesota Nice” feat. Prof, Mr. Gene Poole & Felipe Cuauhtli of Los Nativos
Atmosphere – Minnesota Nice feat. Felipe Cuauhtli, Prof, Mr. Gene Poole by rhymesayers
Wintertime doldrums? Pshaw! Your internet-radio snugglebuddy PUSSYFOOT is warm, rock-hard, and ready to spoon. For our JANUARY 2011 show–the first of a new decade, mind you–we set the bar unquestionably high for the year to come…
First up, BLAKE EVERETT makes his yearly rounds ’round LACMA to screen a forgotten film fable. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is in equal parts ’70s road movie, f-buddy film, and dark comedy. Starring a fresh-faced Jeff Bridges and an against-type Clint Eastwood, our tough to please filmfan puts director Michael Cimino’s debut picture through the wringer. Next, MISS SHELLEY trots out her ‘Cavalcade of Cadavers’ with the kind of bluster we’ve come to know and love from Pussyfoot’s First Lady. When it comes to those who died in 2010, you’ll just have to tune in to get clued in. And finally, EDDIE ROUSE, the blue baron of the airwaves, kicks-off the new year by fielding a trio of listener inquests with his truly unwavering acrimony.
The keynote guest: Hollywood imagemaker and gadfly SANDY DVORE. His work is quite simply iconic. From his golden era images of Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra that adorned top industry trade rags, to the stellar tv titles for The Partridge Family, Knots Landing, Young and the Restless, and The Waltons, to seminal print ads for Sturges’ The Great Escape and Boorman’s Point Blank, Sandy Dvore ranks as one of the most indelible graphic artists of all time. Matt and Matt chop it up with Sandy in his West Hollywood home/studio, touching on everything from the methodology behind his Blacula work, sex in the swinging ’60s, and his gonzo screenwriting forays. And, as if that weren’t enough, Pussyfoot is proud to present (for the first time in a long time) a web glimpse of Sandy’s metallurgical master stroke–the opening title sequence for the cult-classic steel mill drama Skag. None of this is to be missed.
All that, plus, a musical playlist you can snowball-up and hurl at your friends.

Spree Wilson is back with a very necessary addition to your playlist which features the incomparable Esthero taken from his upcoming debut project “The Never Ending Now”. This magical musical collaboration is an important record which showcases Spree’s range and diversity. Esthero not only produces the record, but also delivers a remarkably understated vocal performance creating a beautiful duet. All of this makes for a tasty memorable combination, completed by a backing track of ear candy provided by the always eclectic noise-smith Hot Sugar.

The single Lackluster is a tribute of sorts to those living less then lavish, as it shines a light on the struggles of working class citizens in an effort to balance out the misrepresentation of wealth that is ever-so prevalent within today’s Hip Hop culture.
With his clever, lyrical word play, Gold Spade offers some food for thought in providing an alternative perspective to the far-too-common theme of money, cars and women which seems to have plagued commercial Hip Hop culture in recent years. Lackluster (The Blue Monday Anthem) was produced by C-Sol aka Peso Pesado.
For Internet users, it has been a decade of exciting online advances that allow people to communicate, share information and conduct business in ways that were never before possible. However, cybercrime has also flourished over the last decade, growing by double digits year after year and costing consumers hundreds of millions of dollars. The latest report from McAfee (NYSE: MFE), “A Good Decade for Cybercrime,” examines the past 10 years of cybercriminal tactics and online threats, an era that dramatically changed the face of crime.
“Cybercrime is one of the fastest growing and lucrative industries of our time,” said Dave Marcus, director of security research for McAfee Labs™. “From the ‘I Love You Worm’ of 2000, to today’s ever-evolving threats on social media sites, we’ve watched these cybercriminals and their tactics grow in sophistication. The days of destruction purely for bragging rights are over – now it’s all about making money and not getting caught.”
Over the past 10 years, Internet use has exploded, growing over five-fold from the 361 million users in 2000 to nearly two billion users in 2010, according to InternetWorldStats.com. With a new onslaught of e-commerce sites and revenue opportunities, the Internet has become a trove of money and information that has proven irresistible to cybercrooks.
Snapshot of a Decade
Top exploits representing different eras of cybercrime:
1) “I LOVE YOU” Worm’s False Affection: Estimated damage $15 billion
The “I love you” worm (named after the subject line of the e-mail it came in) proved irresistible in 2000 as millions of users opened the spam message and downloaded the attached “love letter” file and a bitter virus. This infamous worm cost companies and government agencies $15 billion to shut down their computers and remove the infection.
2) MyDoom’s Mass Infection: Estimated damage $38 billion
This fast-moving worm first struck in 2004 and tops McAfee’s list in terms of monetary damage. Due to all the spam it sent, it slowed down global Internet access by 10 per cent and reduced access to some websites by 50 per cent, causing billions in dollars of lost productivity and online sales.
3) Conficker’s Stealthy Destruction: Estimated damage $9.1 billion
This 2007 worm infected millions of computers and then took its infections further than the last two worms on our list, as cybercrooks moved from notoriety to professionalism. Conficker was designed to download and install malware from sites controlled by the virus writers.
1) Fake Anti-Virus Software – Selling fake antivirus software is one of the most insidious
and successful scams of recent years. Cybercrooks prey on users’ fear that their computer and information is at-risk by displaying misleading pop-ups that prompt the victim to “purchase” antivirus software to fix the problem. When the victim agrees to purchase, their credit card information is stolen and they wind up downloading malware instead of security software.
2) Phishing Scams – Phishing, or trying to trick users into giving up personal information, is one of the most common and persistent online threats. Phishing can come in spam e-mails, spam instant messages, fake friend requests or social networking posts.
3) Phony Websites – In recent years, cybercrooks have become adept at creating fake websites that look like the real deal. From phony banking sites, to auction sites and e-commerce pages, crooks are constantly laying online traps hoping you will be fooled into entering your credit card or personal information.
Looking ahead to future cybercrime trends, McAfee Labs predicts the continuation of social networking scams and tricks, such as malicious links, phony friend requests and phishing attempts. The scams are likely to get more sophisticated and personalized, especially if users continue to share a great deal of information.

Building upon his reputation as an artist who channels inspiration from multiple genres, Young’s latest single is a remix of “Most Wanted” by New York City’s retro-pop duo, Cults, who are set to appear at Coachella on April 16th. Young’s effortless phrasing shines through a mixed bag of style featuring the main hook from Cults’ “Most Wanted” that is complemented by electric guitar and a mid-tempo beat.
“Cults and I did a show together at the 4th Street Warehouse in Los Angeles, CA and I told them I would sample this song since I’m such a huge fan. This song is definitely an experimental experience.

Three years ago, Tim Sylvia was on top of the world. The “Maine-iac” was riding a six fight winning streak and gearing up to defend his UFC Heavyweight title for the third time. But an upset loss to Randy “The Natural” Couture in March of 2007 changed everything.
Nearly four years later, Sylvia is on the comeback trail with a four fight winning streak, all by stoppage, as he looks to make one more run at the Heavyweight title. This Friday night on “HDNet Fights: Titan Fighting Championship 16,” Sylvia (28-6) tries to take the next step on his road to redemption as he meets well regarded prospect Abe Wagner (7-3) in the main event of the evening.
“I’m going to go in there and try to knock his ass out,” Sylvia said when asked recently for a prediction on the fight. “You can expect me to go in there, get another win, and start off the New Year right.”

James Pants has been a drummer for most of his life (and a virtuoso jazz drummer at that). The Stones Throw artist’s previous song collections were beat-heavy and soaked in funk, which makes the “purposefully weak drums” on his first proper album all the more puzzling…and thrilling. “I’m a drummer, so it’s always been big drums with me, and on this one I wanted to use either really generic drum machines or really simple rock patterns. And quiet. I wanted to craft songs instead of beats,” he says while talking about James Pants, the full-length (originally called Love Kraft) to be released by Stones Throw in April 2011.
The scene that inspires James Pants exists solely in his head, and sometimes David Lynch’s. Both men have spent plenty of time living in Spokane, Washington, and found muse in a fictional television town a few miles east. “It’s that Twin Peaks sound,” James Pants says of his self-titled LP. “More noise and wailing guitars.”
Lead single “Darlin’” picks up on Suicide channeling doo-wop with a swirling guitar joining the dance. Stereogum says that “James Pants will play all your instruments then play with all your styles” and he flexes those production chops throughout his eponymous release. “On [previous release] Seven Seals, I used a lot of old early-’80s keyboards, which everybody is trying to use now. So I used a lot of mid-’90s keyboards with the new age kinda sound.”
He’s remixed Beck, Pharell & Santogold, Dam Funk, and Mayor Hawthorne, while Tyler, the Creator of OFWGKTA has already freestyled over his music and Busy P of Ed Banger admits to being a fan.
He was born to Presbyterian ministers in Virginia and met Stones Throw head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf in Austin after his prom where the label owner / DJ was performing. And right before he releases a record, he’ll be working with the Red Bull Music Academy in Köln where he can provide his daughter with the childhood in Europe that most people only wistfully whisper about.
“Forever. I. Love. Atlanta.(F.I.L.A.),the history of the Dungeon Family” takes you down the musical road that became the soundtrack to Atlanta. Without the Dungeon Family, its safe to say that the Atlanta sound would not have progressed as rapidly as it did. Consisting of Outkast,Goodie Mob,Society of Soul,Organized Noize,Backbone,Cool Breeze, and Ej the Witch doctor, the DF crew paved the way for all modern southern mc’s.
Being that these brothers were the first mc’s from Atlanta that I ever worked with,I deem it only right that I pay tribute to them first. No other group of mc’s from the south has balanced the fine line of raw street lyrics and social commentary.
Even after being around them from day one,I still find gems in there lyrics. With no further ado, please enjoy the “League of elite mc’s”…THE DUNGEON FAMILY…download and enjoy!

If noise rock and rap music have any sonic similarities, then El-P is the man primarily responsible for making their connection explicit. As a producer, his work has evolved, with a broader range of sounds, time signatures, and detail, equally applicable to his inimitable flow. On “Time Won’t Tell,” you can hear it in the Mike Tyson-impact drums, shrieking guitars, and blobby keyboards. The track is a remix off of last year’s Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3—out now on Gold Dust—and features the sardonic, forceful rhymes of up and coming L.A. MC Nocando.
