This is Classified. If you’re from Canada you know he’s a big name there – think somewhere in between Snoop and Bieber (work with me here). Decon is putting his album out at the end of March and here’s the video for his single ‘That Ain’t Classy’
What does it take for a person to change or for a man to find himself, for sense, the answer to this question came after many years of searching, but the experience was and continues to be a priceless contribution to his unique sound. Now, when you listen to him, you hear more than a talented young mc with an incredible gift for words, you hear soul…
Sense, Born ‘Michael Bourne’ Oct 19, 1985 to the harsh cold environment of western Canada [Edmonton, Alberta], immediately displayed an interest in music from the first day he could make sound. Soon after his mother and father would travel to Ontario for a new start, being supportive at the time and seeing his love for the arts, they helped get him involved in singing at churches and weddings at as early as 5 years old. He continued following his love for singing until a cousin introduced him to the world of hip hop. Suddenly there was this new and special way to display emotions and create feelings in other people simply by using words that captivated him immediately, he was hooked. Combining his newfound love with his old one Sense developed a completely different style and approach to hip hop that amazed everyone.
Eventually dropping out of high-school, a move unadvised by his mother, he dove headfirst into the music. After purchasing some studio equipment and learning how to mix he was eventually successful at getting his first airplay on, at the time very popular, 89.5 Project Bounce radio show , he was 18 then. Fast forward a couple more project bounce hits, 8 mixtapes, and 6 years later and things finally started to pick up when a 4 month old submission he had made finally got a response, it said, “submission approved 93.7 WBLK Unsigned Hype”. Sense had just received the opportunity of a life time, to reach out directly to the American market and he was not about to let this chance pass. With the help of a assembled team of graphic workers, his manger, friends, and several talented local producers like Raj Tut and Nick Knox he made a promotional push that earned him a maximum allowed 5 week reign at the number one spot on the countdown with his song “Love or Hate me”.
Since then, Sense has had 3 more hit singles released, all going to number one, and in early 2010 Sense headed out to the second annual Unsigned Hype Awards in Buffalo, NY where he walked away with the “Hip Hop Artist Of The Year Award” for Canada . Excited about this newest phase in his life he knows he can’t slow down now as he keeps pressing on with a new mixtape series entitled “Lord of The Kings”, a much anticipated debut album release set for 2011, and probably one of the most interactive and entertaining live shows in the GTA. Sense intends on letting the world know that if you’re not already watching him…you should be.
Last night, Matt & Matt received an amazing and gratifying update from PUSSYFOOT’s official gemologist, MR. DAVID HUMPHREY. Undoubtedly, the February 2010 show in which Mr. Humphrey appeared has endured as one of the most popular episodes in PF’s reign of radio terror.
We are extremely proud to announce that because of said episode–and after a considerable bidding war (both online and via more conventional jewel-industry avenues)–the AUTHENTIC DEATH ROW RECORDS CHAIN has finally sold to a private bidder. One of the few remaining custom Death Row chains, this piece was worn by thug svengali MARION ‘SUGE’ KNIGHT and salvaged from the melee following the shooting death of TUPAC SHAKUR.
While the final financial terms are not being disclosed at this time, Pussyfoot would like to take this opportunity to both thank our loyal listenership and congratulate our resident gemologist David Humphrey on this truly landmark sale.
On February 19th, DJ Q-Bert’s first foray into fine art was released exclusively through When Art Imitates Life(W.A.I.L.), the art imprint spearheaded by Sway Calloway of MTV and King Tech of the World Famous Wake Up Show. The deejay known to many as ‘the Jimi Hendrix of turntables’ pays homage to the album art for Hendrix’s 1967 Axis: Bold As Love, and sprinkles 50 hidden elements throughout the piece reflecing his life, interests and career, making it a work that reveals itself through multiple viewings. When asked about similarities between himself and Hendrix, Q says “we’re both so free, and we express animal instincts when playing our musical instruments.”
Two editions of the 250 pieces exist in this limited run of 60″ x 25″ canvases – Chromeo, boasting a metallic, hard-edged color pallette; and Spectrum, which stays true to the original Hendrix color format. Every piece is numbered and signed by Q-Bert, making each a one-of-a-kind collectible. Additionally, each bears a unique set of Q-Bert’s handprints in acrylic paint atop the design. “Diskstroyer is a spiritual representation of how order can be created out of chaos,” says Q. “It all falls within the title of the piece. Sometimes you have to destroy something to create something beautiful.”
WAIL was founded in 2010 by King Tech of the World Famous Wake Up Show and MTV’s Sway Calloway in conjunction with notorious L.A. creativity house SceneFour.

Brooklyn native and former Arsonists member Q-Unique has been painting vivid pictures of the grime and drab of New York life throughout his sophomore album, Between Heaven And Hell, his first project since the 2008 release of Vengeance Is Mine. Showing off his storytelling ability, Q-Unique tells a range of tales depicting life growing up in a darker time of New York with tracks like “Mr. Lopez,” about a robbery gone wrong, to the crippling crack epidemic on “Crack Era.” While his latest album, on which Q-Unique receives assistance from the likes of Ill Bill, Slaine, and more, dropped in early fall of 2010, Q-Unique continues to release new videos to support the project. The Brooklyn native is now treating fans with a video for the stoner anthem “Green Grass.”
Directed by Ian Pons Jewell, the video takes the viewer on a toked up walk through the streets of London, England. After taking a puff of a joint, Q-Unique takes over the body of the smoker as him and a friend start on their journey. “Now normally I don’t put myself on front street/ But it’s sure the chocolate paper makes the blunt sweet/ I get the best New York City bomb shit,” raps Q-Unique over the horn and drum heavy beat, as this track takes its rightful place as one of many odes to the doja.
