In every job there is honour, no matter how grand or menial the task. Some employers will attempt to twist this concept into their own desired outcomes and needs, but as a general thought this rings true for millions of people who undertake their daily work each day, all year round, unfailingly. With his Brand New release ‘My People’, Toronto based emcee and Freedom Writers/Empire member Adam Bomb celebrates the resilience, dedication and heart possesed by workers in all walks of life. From the ticket takers in movie theatre lobbies to the nurses in overcrowded hospitals, everyone is on a path to progression even if their current job is just a stepping stone to greater things.
As an emcee, a job that hordes of aspiring artists apply for each year, there are certain roles and responsibilities one must fulfill. Being original, creative and fearless top that list and Adam Bomb has consistently raised the bar with unbelievable flows, infectious hooks and thought provoking content for the masses. Having the support of your peers is also a qualification and with a growing list of notables including Canadian Hip Hop legend Maestro Fresh Wes, FLOW 93.5fm radio host Mastermind and Polaris prize nominee D Sisive onboard, Bomb is reaching new heights wih each new endeavour. Lastly and most importantly, an emcee must have the confidence and trust of THE PEOPLE and citing the International success of Bombs’ latest releases ‘Wasted Talent’ and ‘Make Good Music’ (youtube hits in the tens of thousands) its clear that the 5th letter fam and Freedom Writers collective all star Adam Bomb is a Full Time, fully certified representative of THE PEOPLE!
Adam Bomb’s newly minted WASTED TALENT cd is now available for purchase featuring some of ‘the legend’s’ most memorable tracks such as ‘The balance’ produced by Platinum selling beatsmith 40 (Drake, Sade, Jay Z) and the crowd favourite ‘Wasted Talent’ banged out by fellow Freedom Writers collaborator Big Sproxx of Proletarian music. Fresh off of the jam packed release party in Toronto, Adam Bomb is continuing work on his next solo project and steadily penning classics for the debut LP of critically acclaimed Toronto Hip Hop collective, the Freedom Writers. Possessing a CEO flow with a hard hat mentality, it’s not hard to see why Adam Bomb is one of the most sought after artists in Canadian Hip Hop. The people have spoken.

Fresh off this year’s edition of his annual Paid Dues festival, Los Angeles rapper Murs presents the six-song Varsity Blues 2 EP, the sequel to 2002′s first installment. Murs (just about) kicks drugs and alcohol, pulls a gun on the ‘other guy’, dedicates one song to a dead love, another to a lost groupie, and ends by breaking clean with maybe his toughest habit, Los Angeles. Varsity Blues 2 is the sound of a young man strangling his weaknesses one by one, only to discover that nobody gets them all. Production by Aesop Rock, Terrace Martin, Issue, Foudnation, Karl Berringer and Droop-E.
Straight from his upcoming dual-disc house music mix comes a brand new DJ Chachi remix! Combining Morgan Page’s “Longest Road”, Thomas Gold’s “Agora”, and Avicii, Norman Doray, & Sebastian Drums’ “Tweet It” – this one can’t lose…

BEATFACE members Paul and Book started out wanting to be songwriters. Based in Toronto, they began crafting music for other artists but as time progressed a distinct sound emerged and they grew attached to their songs. Soon they decided to forego the songwriting route and keep their creations for themselves.
The BEATFACE sound can best be described as a mix of electronic, rock and pop music. Their influences run the gamut from Esthero and Dallas Green to Portishead and Deadmau5. They will be releasing their debut EP and touring later this year.
Earlier this year they held a listening session with a few local bloggers and have had some amazing response.
In his newest remix, mashup maestro Jason Smith subtly chops up Common’s “Go” instrumental, turning it into the perfect accomplice for John Legend’s cover of “Rolling In The Deep”.

For over a decade, the only avenue that Big L fans had for listening to his rarities was through shoddy bootleg dubs – until now. Flamboyant Entertainment (in conjunction with The Estate of Lamont Coleman) has remastered some of Big L’s most famous freestyles along with rare & unreleased tracks. Featuring Gang Starr, Lord Finesse, D.I.T.C. and more, the end result is “The Danger Zone” – hitting stores on May 31st.
With his untimely death in 1999, Big L’s departure left a void in the hip hop scene that has never been filled. Known for his witty, literary, lyrical style and for being near, but never quite at, the center of commercial success, Big L appeared to be on the verge of a breakthrough in 1999. Mase and Cam’Ron, two of his partners in the early ’90s group Children of the Corn, went on to MTV stardom, but Big L’s 1995 Columbia debut, “Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous,” earned only limited critical attention.
At the time of his death, Big L’s independently released single, “Ebonics,” was receiving consistent airplay on the indie-centric radio mix shows hosted by WKCR’s Bobbito Garcia and WNYU’s DJ Eclipse. In July of 2000, his posthumous sophomore full length “The Big Picture” was released to critical raves and phenomenal sales, propelling the album into going gold.
With last year’s “Return of the Devil’s Son” which featured unreleased performances, the thirst for more Big L material has had a second awakening. With “The Danger Zone,” Flamboyant Entertainment is looking to give the die hards what they have been looking for after 10+ years, so fans can properly complete their Big L collection.
“The Danger Zone” brings the heat. Correctly.
Available May 31st on Flamboyant Entertainment/RBC Records

Atlanta brave Donnis is back and has something salacious to sling. And with a name like, “Ring My Bell” what else could it be? Producer Syience has created a beat that is slinky and bell-tinged but still begs that you drop it to the floor, while Dev’s sugary purr on the hook is bound to make the wanton snap right into their element. The track is the first look at Donnis’ upcoming mixtape, Southern Lights, out next week and hosted by RCRD LBL longtime friend, Fool’s Gold’s Nick Catchdubs.
Mad Decent don Diplo has affectionately referred to his buddy Bosco Delrey as something not quite like Elvis—a little less polish than the man from Memphis circa Blue Hawaii, but much more rugged than his Vegas days. “20 Flight Dub” is transient dreaminess with a borderline reggaeton backbone. It’s Delrey’s floating croons that lend to the comparison to the The King, as he delivers them with the same syncopation “Jail House Rock” had. It comes from Bosco’s Everybody Wah, out March 29 on Mad Decent.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E League artist Laws has released the video to his ode to women who love hip-hop, “Lady Hip Hop”….
If you’ve already heard the track, you know why some have called it the 2011 anthem for the female Hip-Hop head. The video, shot by Dwayne Lafleur, focuses on a young couple’s relationship and their shared love for the artform. You can find this song on Ashley Outrageous’ The Playlist Vol. 2 mixtape.
On this, opening day of the Major League Baseball season, the juiced-up internet-radio slugger that is PUSSYFOOT goes yard…and then some. For our MARCH 2011 episode, we hack-away at two distinctly-SoCal subcultures.
First up, our movie-review-maverick BLAKE EVERETT hops atop a rickety ol’ Schwinn and pedals his way through ‘Bill Cunningham: New York’, a documentary portrait of the iconic street shutterbug. Next, MISS SHELLEY chimes-in with a stirring eulogy of an Indian man whose love for and knowledge of tigers helped him create a palatial big cat safe haven. And rounding things out, none other than EDDIE ROUSE–Pussyfoot’s anti-social advice-giver–upping the ante with a twenty-shot of warped wisdom in a special ‘March Madness’ edition of ‘Eddie’s Sagelike Advice’.
Our keynote guests this month share a need to chronicle out-of-the-way enclaves of Californians. GABRIEL GRIFFIN is the man behind the bitchin’ new photobook ‘Asphalt Golds vol. 2′. Equal parts photographic history and personal scrapbook, his debut tome documents the unflinchingly cool style and vaunted rap sheet of The Heathens—a Motorcycle Family that ran Venice and the Southbay during a time when bikers were, as Griffin puts it “viewed as a threat to the very fabric of our United States”.
Matt and Matt then knock back a Mai Tai (or two) with the world’s foremost authority on Tiki culture, MR. SVEN A. KIRSTEN. His seminal Taschen book, aptly titled ‘The Book of Tiki’, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Acknowledged in popular and academic circles alike as the go-to guy when it comes to Polynesian Pop, Kirsten graciously invites Pussyfoot into his own home (dubbed ‘Tiki Island’) for a lively discussion that touches on the legacy of men like Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic, to the proliferation of Witco furniture, and Cali-centric Tiki innovators like Whittier’s own Oceanic Arts.
And don’t sleep on the little videos we create and house on our ‘Guests’ page. Bizarre cameos abound this month…
All that, plus a musical playlist bolstered by keynote guest-curated favorites…
So join us, won’t you? Only online at http://www.thehomeofpussyfoot.com

Boston emcee Elemental Zazen presents the second single from his new album Nothing To Lose But Change, also featuring Jean Grae and Canibus. “This might be my favorite track on the record,” Zazen says of “Kill ‘Em With The Beat”. “Fashawn is one of the most naturally gifted emcees in the game. He’s blowing up right now, and with good reason. Joe Beats has always been one of my favorite producers, and this beat represents him at the top of his game. Make sure you listen to the end of the track…DJ Slipwax absolutely MURDERS the cuts.”
