Deezuz releases “Aleister Crowley”, 3rd video from AMMMO album
Deezuz feat. D-sisive – Aleister Crowley (produced/directed by Stuey Kubrick)
PUSSYFOOT – August 2011: Three-Year Anniversary with KENNETH HIGNEY
What a whirlwind year for the ‘Foot. While we were busy bringing you exclusive interviews with folks like Sandy Dvore, Tony Vera, Kitten Natividad, Mister Imagination, Wise Blood, Sven Kirsten, David Gedge (and many more), you were busy laughing, learning, and listening. Indeed the party don’t stop as PUSSYFOOT is proud to roll out its 3-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW…
For the AUGUST 2011 episode we find out roster of internet-radio roustabouts in giddy, ready-to-throwdown celebration mode. First up, BLAKE EVERETT takes in two unusual films united by their depictions of gritty, inner-city life. Blake throws a burlap party for visionary director Nicholas Ray’s ‘Knock on Any Door’ (a film that can only be seen in theaters as it is n-o-t on DVD) only to funnel his pent-up rage into a venomous review of the straight to iTunes (and thus, n-o-t in theaters) release ‘Domestic’. Whether he’s praising Humphrey Bogart or lambasting Da Band rapper-cum-actor E. Ness, it’s a ‘Blake at the Movies’ that begs to be heard. Next, elegant eulogist MISS SHELLEY delivers a heartfelt bye-bye to a playful broadcast pioneer whose sound effect-laden life was fueled by a profound love of sport. And last but you-bet-your-sweet-ass-not least, EDDIE ROUSE takes on a trio of the best questions from the year that was in a special ‘Eddie’s Sagelike Advice.’ It may sound like overkill, but seriously gang, Eddie comes correct (and strapped with a slew of swears) for the year three kiss-off…listen up, dammit!
Our keynote guest for the August show…a Pussyfoot interview coup to say the least. Simply put, KENNETH HIGNEY is the man behind the best album you’ve never heard. In 1976, Higney was a shaggy New Jersey truck driver looking to kick-start his career as a songwriter for the likes of Neil Young. He recorded ‘Attic Demostration’ as a one-take demo and would-be calling card. A true DIY curio, ‘Attic Demonstration’ is an album that is at once universally bleak and unquestionably hopeful. Songs like ‘No Heavy Trucking’ and ‘Night Rider’ are Higney’s lump-in-your-throat paeans to the open road. Deep cuts like ‘Let Us Pray’ and ‘I’ll Cry Tomorrow’ are akin to the fragile ditties of proto-indie balladiers Jandek, Daniel Johnston, and Phil Elverum. And oddly enough, the album’s upbeat stunner ‘Quietly Leave Me’ could easily enjoy a place on the next Deerhunter LP.
Since its initial release of a self-pressed 500 copies–some of which Higney himself would frisbee to pedestrians from the window of his big rig–’Attic Demonstration’ has become a holy grail for vinyl enthusiasts and inspiration for aspiring musicians the world over. And so, Pussyfoot is proud to present the first-ever radio interview with Higney, a man who speaks in an engaging and affable drawl despite his frequently tortured ‘AD’ howling. Kenneth, Matt, and Matt down burgers and chili at a greasy roadside diner whilst discussing this long-lost and incredibly important work.
(Whew!) All that, plus a playlist packed with three-year anniversary anthems.

MP3/Video: JD Era – “Change” Feat. LOKZ
The Real Frequency has been putting on for the local Toronto, Canada, scene for a minute now. We’ve already seen some of what’s to offer with previous singles from their new album, The New North, and the quality keeps coming with another single, “Change,” this one courtesy JD Era, also recently anointed as the newest artist signed to Raekwon’s Ice H20 label. In the coming weeks, The Real Frequency and JD Era will also release a video for the single.
The track, which also features LOKZ, is easily one of the smoother songs on the compilation album, a fact that, according to JD Era, compliments and plays up the power of the song’s the message. “‘Change” was inspired by the title of The Real Frequency’s project The New North,” explains Era, adding that he feels the “album symbolizes a changing of the guard, a passing of the torch to those next up from Toronto.” JD’s laidback flow is framed by bouncing percussion, clean guitar, and fluid piano licks courtesy of producer Soundsmith and complimented by LOKZ’s effortlessly soulful vocals.
As with recent singles from The New North, this latest track is accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video, with JD Era discussing the significance of The Real Frequency and The New North album, shining a little light on his own track, and breaking down where he thinks Toronto hip-hop is headed in 2011 and beyond.

Serge Devant takes The KLF back to the top of the charts with his remix of “3AM Eternal”
Rising NYC-based DJ/producer/remixer Serge Devant offers a tease into his forthcoming new Ultra Records artist album with a remix of one of the most iconic tracks in dance music history, The KLF’s “3AM Eternal.”
The Kopyright Liberation Front (The KLF) played a vital role in the acid house movement of the late 80′s and 90′s in Britain. Their originality made all their tracks instant international hits with the infamous, genre-defining hit 3AM Eternal hitting #1 on the UK Singles Chart and #5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 both in the USA and abroad. Serge Devant’s remake resurrects 3AM Eternal with his pure elements and energy, while successfully capturing the aura of its time. The track builds intensity through its huge anthem breakdown, which showcases KLF’s vocals and delivers us into pure 80′s bliss with a twist. Even the album art is a throwback to the KLF original!
Released earlier this summer – Serge Devant feat. Taleen “3AM Eternal” – debuted at #11 on the UK Buzz Charts and #20 on Music Week’s Cool Cuts Chart. One of the hottest tracks of the festival season, it continues to build momentum and has now made its way to #5 on the Cool Cuts chart for the week ending July 16. It’s been 20 years but “3AM Eternal” is back at the top of the charts and Serge’s version is destined to bring this classic sound to a new audience.
The success of “3AM Eternal” comes at a busy time for Serge Devant. He’s DJing around the world throughout the summer (including a main stage slot at NYC’s famed Electric Zoo Festival in September), putting the final touches on his sophomore artist album (due for release in the fall) and working on remixes including Erick Morillo’s new record with Rachael Starr entitled “We Are The Night.”

Toronto’s Luu Breeze featured on Game’s Album R.E.D – Out Today!
Following his highly anticipated mixtape “HollaLaLuuie”, Luu Breeze will be featured on The Game’s R.E.D Album released on UMG. Blessing the banger “All I Know”, Luu has created a hauntingly raw hook over a Boi-1da production which The Game instantly loved.
This has been an incredible year for him with both recognition and accolades from the music industry as
Luu Breeze is perfecting the balance of talent and hype. Combined with his reputation of being one of the hardest working young artists in the game, superproducer Boi-1da (Drake, The Game) has given Luu Breeze the cosign as the next Canadian star.
The video for “HollaLaLuuie” will be out shortly, in addition to the follow up single “Takeover The Night” produced by Boi1da & Arthur McArthur.

Mixtape: Kyle Rapps – On Air
Kyle Rapps is excited to announce the release of his new mixtape, On Air, which is available today, August 29, for free download here. The eight-track mixtape showcases a new sound for Kyle, with the NYC-based emcee choosing to flip samples from French electro duo Air throughout.
Kyle also threw KRS-One, Homeboy Sandman, and Talib Kweli into the mix, the latter of whom was featured on the EP’s first single, “Universe Traveler.” “The song is special to me for obvious reasons,” says Rapps. “Working with and gaining respect from one of the great lyricists of our time – that feels damn good.” On Air also includes a re-visited fan favorite with “Love Love 2”, a completely revamped song with Air-infused production and unmatched delivery from Kyle, Homeboy Sandman, and KRS-One.
The man behind On Air’s captivating production is Rapps’ long time friend and producer Nate G. “Nate G made it possible,” remarks Kyle. “His sample flipping game is at its peak here.” According to Rapps, one of the reasons the record sounds so intense is the duo’s mentality while locked in a Brooklyn studio. “Recording at his studio in Bushwick over these beats brought out a lot of my real thoughts and feelings on life, love, and society. It was therapy for me,” says Kyle.
Aside from the mixtape’s dope production and impressive collaborations, Kyle is proud of this new record because he has grown throughout the making of it. “On Air is right now, present tense, higher learning type shit,” says Rapps. “It feels like I went to school and became a French gangster.”
