As Captain Hooks prepares to wrap up his Black Market Music Group/Universal Music Canada debut album “Walk The Plank” first quarter 2012, he lets loose a freebie entitled “Overdue” ft. Harvey Stripes. This is the second time that Captain Hooks and Harvey Stripes have collaborated, the first being last years smash hit “Must Be The Money”. Since there first ever collaboration on “Must Be The Money”, one can say it was “overdue” for another collaboration between Captain Hooks and Harvey Stripes. This time the roles are reversed as Harvey Stripes lends a hot 16 to an already hot record. Background vocals by Anna Cyzon. Enjoy
UK producer/remixer Mickey Moonlight is releasing his debut album ‘The Time Axis Manipulation Corporation’ on Ed Banger Records and will be available in stores on 12/6 and digitally on 11/28. Known for his remix work with artists including Justice, this will mark his first official album release and there really isn’t anything quite like it. Having assembled an impressive cast of guest musicians on the album, it still remains his singular and unique vision. Described as “Science-Fiction Exotica” by the artist himself – the LP is full of discrete and subtle details with songs sounding a bit disco on one track, others touching on irreverent folk, and another sounding more pysch-pop. With tales of biotech companies, artificial lovers, voluntary euthanasia, cosmic ambivalence, Discordian folk songs, time travel field recordings and psychedelic pattern-music, this album encourages relaxation and limitless imagination.
His recent five-track EP, ‘Close To Everything’ dropped 10/17 and has garnered praise from DJs around the world. The title track features vocals by George Lewis Jr. of Twin Shadow, and has three different remixes found on the EP including one from The Martin Brothers.
I just recently completed my remix of The Weeknd’s ‘High For This’ and I wanted to share it with you, it is sheer dopeness!

With a weekend of werewolves, witches, warlocks, and ouijas beckoning, kick it off with everybloody’s favorite frightening filabuster, PUSSYFOOT. For their playfully-putrid PUSSOWEEN broadcast, Matt and Matt have conjured up a cauldron’s-worth of evil tunes and much much more…..mwahahahahahahahahaha!
First up, monster movie megafan BLAKE EVERETT makes a terrifying trek to CALICO GHOST TOWN for a boo bellowing ‘Blake at the Movies’. This former mining town nestled in the deepest, darkest recesses of California’s Mojave Desert provides a spine-chilling setting for Blake’s list of all-time favorite ‘ghost stories’. Join internet-radio’s Grim Reaper for a macabre mixture of ghouls and gold–bolstered, of course, by a petrifying photo PDF of Blake’s eerie escapades. Next, evil eulogist MISS SHELLEY (no relation to Mary, btw) chronicles the life of a perhaps deliberately-mysterious masked Mexican marauder. And in a triumphant rise from the presumed dead, EDDIE ROUSE returns to the ‘Foot fold. In his slimy ‘Sage-like Advice’ segment, the morbid Mr. Rouse tackles a trio of listener larks with zombie-like zeal.
And, firmly entrenched amid the darkest days in NBA history, we play a ghastly game of one-on-one with basketbarber LIONELL DALTON. Coiffeur to the likes of ‘Killer’ Carmelo Anthony, ‘Demonic’ Dwayne Wade, Tyreke ‘The Terminator’ Evans, and Kemba Walker: Texas De-Ranger, our main man Lionell discusses both locks and the lockout whilst giving intro-announcer-extraordinaire DAVID BERGER a phantasmal fade.

While Saukrates remains hard at work putting the finishing touches on a string of new music and singles, which will culminate with the release of his album Season One, early next year, the Canadian rapper/producer is excited to have partnered with Nike, lending his song “Say I” to the sportswear brand’s Always On campaign, a six-episode video series aimed at highlighting the lifestyles of select Nike athletes. While other artists involved include Vado, Stalley, and more, Saukrates and his “Say I” single provide the soundtrack for a day-in-the-life of Boston Bruins hockey player P.K. Subban.
Only one full season into his professional career in the NHL, P.K. Subban has already earned a reputation as one of the sport’s most exciting young talents, and it’s more than likely that the defenseman’s road to success followed a storyline very similar to the one told in Saukrates’ “Say I.” The song, driven forward by beating drums and ambient piano keys, plays as an anthem for perseverance as Saukrates sings on the hook, “I can do what I wanna/ And make you a believer, hear you say I/ From stadium to street corner/ I’ll make you a believer, make you say I.” The verses follow suit, with Saukrates weaving tales of hard work and dedication, all with the single-minded goal of self-improvement. “That little kid get a pass/ He do it on the field, and he doing it in class,” begins Saukrates, “See his homeroom teacher always put him on blast/ Saying, ‘Hard work’ll pay off, lay off ain’t an option.”

Directed by Charles Wahl, “So Cool” explores the erotic, sexy, and edgy elements of being in a dysfunctional relationship. “It was such a pleasure working with Charles Wahl, his vision was so clear and he captured the sensuality, strength, vulnerability and the assurance within the song,” said Saidah.
In “So Cool” Saidah sings about keeping her eyes closed because she does not want her significant other to see her soul. As a play on the old adage “eyes are the window to the soul,” Wahl has her blindfolded for the whole video. Towards the end there’s a chilling twist when she removes her blindfold to reveal …
Of the experience Wahl said, “Working with Saidah was very inspiring, one of the best pure performers I’ve ever worked with. Every single performance in every single take burned with intense energy…and that is the first time I’ve ever had that working with anybody.”
Saidah and her band, the solRawkestra, deliver a strong intense performance in the video. Saidah’s love interest is played by actor Adrian Holmes who’s currently filming “Elysium” opposite Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. Of working with Saidah, Holmes said, “Saidah Baba Talibah is a very real and raw artist, with a true sense of originality. I had a great time collaborating with Saidah as artists telling a dynamic, compelling story.”
For the wardrobe and accessories featured in the video Saidah brought in green/sustainable fashion designer Sonja den Elzen from Thieves and jewelry designer Dandi Maestre.

John Dahlbäck has been a consistently respected producer in the electronic music scene for nearly a decade now, with productions spanning from deep and techy, to progressive and chunky, and now finally, with his latest single “One Last Ride”, outright bold and joyful. This new school ballad features goosebump-provoking vocals from fellow Swede Erik Hassle surrounded by airy pumping synths creating an epic crossover hit.
The remix package is superb. Felix Cartal, a master of dark, grungy bass, delivers his version with chopped up vocals laced throughout the overbearing and glitchy ‘punch-to-the-gut’ rough style while maintaining the uplifting original melody in the breakdown of the song. It’s been a mainstay in Tiësto’s recent sets. Meanwhile, Tommy Trash turns the track into a proper club banger with his crisp production style with a pure bred electro house bassline that could please the crowds at both Pacha and Fabric. Tommy’s remix first gained the world’s attention when Sebastian Ingrosso dropped it into Swedish House Mafia’s takeover of Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show. Finally, My Digital Enemy creates a tropical jam; the jungle beat, horns and big bass drums will have hips shaking worldwide.
2011 has been John Dahlback’s most prolific year; packed with a full global tour schedule and new releases on Toolroom, Spinnin’, Defected, Versuz, Big Beat/Atlantic NEWS, Universal GAS, Universal Nordic, Ministry Of Sound Australia and One Love/Sony Australia. He’s also remixed Lady Gaga, Nicole Featuring 50 Cent, Skylar Gray, David Morales and Sneaky Soundsystem, among others.
John is prepping for an even busier 2012 with the January release of a mix CD for Toolroom Records and brand new singles each month thereafter.

Esinchill is excited to release his new mixtape, The Appetizer. Serving as both a follow up to his recently released album, Vigilante, and a precursor to his forthcoming Hate Food EP, The Appetizer is a treat for fans new and old. Hosted by DJ D-Sharp, the 14-track mixtape features Esinchill going in over a mix of industry beats and originals, with the new production coming courtesy of DJ D-Sharp, Cras, Beat Roc, and C-Dash. Meanwhile, guests on the tape include Marcell William, Mistah FAB, R.O.D Project, Nate’, and the R&B singer Samm.
Esinchill is all about lyrics, and feeling a shit in momentum towards those more lyrically inclined emcees, the Bay Area rapper was compelled to release a new project where he could put his own bars on display. “Folks seem to be paying attention to me and what I have to say as of late,” notes Esinchill. “I’ve long felt that if a person has a voice they will be heard no matter what hip-hop’s fad of the moment is, but now it just seems like lyrics are becoming more prominent again.”
Now, with the mixtape out, Esinchill has his focus set on his upcoming Hate Food EP, a project that will be produced entirely by DJ D-Sharp and include features from Yukmouth, Erk Tha Jerk, London Land, Nette Brielle, and Kev Choice. “The music is splendid and I’m just happy to be able to present it to the people,” Esinchill explains. “All I ever wanted to do was be heard and to have that happen coupled with the grand response the music has received is indeed overwhelming.”

Having moved beyond their recent LP, When Pigs Fly, and still putting the finishing touches on their new EP, a project that will include production from Black Milk, S1, Picnictyme, and others, Dallas duo A.Dd+ continues to release a string of new, quality tracks they’re now packaging and releasing them as a collection of free, non-album singles packaged as “Loosies.” The latest in this line of new freebies for the fans is “Genocide,” easily one of the most aggressive tracks that duo Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun have released to date.
“We’re drawing a line between the music we make and the BS that Dallas is mostly known for,” say A.Dd+, citing their inspiration for the track. “We represent a new wave of artists here, with more diversity and substance – and we’re proud of that.” And as bold as the statement is from the two rappers, the beat is with them step-for-step, a raucous affair full of grinding synths and lively vocal chops, that was produced by Brain Gang Blue and co-produced by Picnictyme. “King Blue just gave me a beat and he said, ‘Make sure that you rock it’/ ‘Bout a year ago, big bro gave us a key to the city, said, ‘Here, ni**a, lock this bitch,” raps Slim Gravy, “Mold with the old/ Grow with the new/ Ni**a die, pick a side/ Any two, gonna lose/ Gotta pick one!”

An honest exploration of one’s personal demons, ‘A Bottle of Wine’ is the
latest release from BEATFACE. With telling lyrics and a haunting melody,
Bottle of Wine has been many playlists and guaranteed to be on repeat.
BEATFACE is an electronic rock band from Toronto, Canada pushing personal musical boundaries with their sound. It started as an experiment a few years back when Paul, a singer, and Book, a producer and keyboardist, decided to create a sound that would be different from anything they had previously created. Adding Jonny as a drummer to provide an edgier layer of sound, the band created ‘AMY,’ a 7-song EP that explores life, relationships and love.
