Mobb Deep “Conquer”

Mobb Deep will release their eighth album in 2012, but in the meantime Havoc and Prodigy are laying the groundwork for their full-fledged return to the game with the Black Cocaine EP. The Queensbridge rappers dropped their last album Blood Money in 2006, and five years later they’re primed and ready for a comeback. The five-track EP boasts features from Nas and Bounty Killer, but you’ll get the best idea of their intentions on “Conquer,” which is produced by Havoc. Over the ominous bass line, the duo is straightforward about their plans to dominate the hip-hop game once more. “We conquer, overpower and crush,” it goes. “Come and get washed up.”

Lazeevil – My Word

Following up the success of “My Word,” Vancouver MC Lazeevil has released
a dark, dynamic and somewhat surreal video for his debut single. Shot in
downtown Vancouver and utilizing the creative forces of Richie McFly and
Alex Barredo, Lazeevil flows sharply on a volatile C-Infamous beat.

Also watch for her upcoming single entitled Di Antidote produced by C-Sol aka Peso Pesado which will be available shortly.

video: Maimouna Youssef, “I Got A Man”

Baltimore native Maimouna “Mumu Fresh” Youssef is a singer, emcee, songwriter and poet. She received a Grammy nomination for her contribution on The Roots’ hit “Don’t Feel Right” in 2007 for best rap song, and made her big screen debut on Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. She has swapped musical licks with such artists as Nas, Dead Prez, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Mos Def. Maimouna released her first solo EP entitled Black Magic Woman on March 1, 2011 and has recently released her first full-length solo album, The Blooming. “I Got A Man” was directed and edited by Brian “B.Kyle” Atkins of Gifted Films, Inc. and shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & Washington, DC. The video approaches the song’s love triangle theme from a unique perspective, showing Maimouna as an embattled independent music artist searching for a balance between the music business and her love for creating free honest music.

Mighty Crown Raises the Bar with New Nike Sneakers

Mighty Crown “The Far East Rulers” have sealed their third sneaker deal with Nike Sportswear. The sneaker pak, released in honor of Mighty Crown’s 20th Anniversary in the business, was the hottest possible way for “The Far East Rulers” to culminate their year long celebrations. Consisting of the Nike Dunk High Premium and Nike Sky Force 88 Low, impressively, the sneaker pak marks Mighty Crown’s fourth and fifth Nike sneakers to date. Notably, Mighty Crown is the only sound system in the world to get a Nike sneaker deal. Over the years, the name Mighty Crown has become synonymous with Reggae/Dancehall music and culture Globally and as expected the sound continues to make an indelible and unprecedented impact on the Reggae/Dancehall and Sound System industries.
The new limited edition sneakers come in clean colors, yet with lots of special materials, applications and details on the upper. Both the sleek all black Nike Dunk High Premium and the silver Nike Sky Force 88 Low sneakers are customized with the infamous Mighty Crown logo through out and the Mighty Crown name uniquely engraved in the sole. But what makes these sneakers really blaze is a collage of all of Mighty Crown’s sound clash trophies on the shoes’ insoles — truly a testament of Mighty Crown’s achievements.
“Being able to say that five pairs of Nike sneakers were made in honor of Mighty Crown is truly a blessing. It reminds me that hard work does eventually pay off, but none of this would have been possible without the support of Reggae/Dancehall fans,” says Masta Simon, co-founding member of
Mighty Crown.

AlgiiRHYTHM – “Moving Along”

“The Suit” was slated to be released by AlgiiRHYTHM during the later half of 2010 but was shelved due to a several month retirement which ensued. However, it had already spawned a catalog of music that is pending to be released as a series of music, rather than as a single album. It also gave birth to an overall concept. The name and direction of the album was derived from the saying “[He] is following suit” which means that [he] is complying with what is deemed to be the “norm” / “protocol” of society. AlgiiRHYTHM’s intent was to shed light upon the tendency of the masses to blindly follow unsubstantiated standards. “The Suit” inspired the catch phrase “Get Your Suits Ready” which serves as an arbitrary phrase within itself whenever he uses it.

In brief, AlgiiRHYTHM is coming, so Get Your Suits Ready.
