ABOUT JOE FRAZIER: WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS
They say that Philadelphia is the capital of boxing and Joe Frazier’s Gym is the White House. This is the story of a father, a son and a forgotten legacy. Joe Frazier has been lost in someone else’s legend. His epic rivalry with Muhammad Ali is the most famous of any sport but Joe has remained in the shadows. This tale of redemption shows Joe Frazier as a human being for the first time: an athlete who battled prejudice and struggled for everything he achieved; a father whose own experiences inspired him to reach out to help others. Joe Frazier’s gym has been a Philadelphia sanctuary for forty years. Now it is threatened with closure. TRAILER: http://vimeo.com/24006109
ABOUT WHITE WASH
White Wash is a film exploring the complexity of race in America through the struggle and triumph of black surfers. The story is narrated by Grammy Award winner Ben Harper with Black Thought of the Roots and told through the eyes of black surfers from Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, and California. It looks deep into America’s painful and pervasive legacy of slavery and exclusion. From surfing’s “discovery” by Captain James Cook in Hawaii in 1778 through the explosion of surf culture during the days of segregated Jim Crow America in1960′s, this film explores the myths that black surfers have overcome in their search for waves.
ABOUT FIRE IN BABYLON
Fire In Babylon is the breathtaking story of how the West Indies triumphed over its colonial masters through the achievements of one of the most gifted teams in sporting history. In a turbulent era of apartheid in South Africa; race riots in England and civil unrest in the Caribbean, the West Indian cricketers, led by the enigmatic Viv Richards, struck a defiant blow at the forces of white prejudice worldwide. Their undisputed skill, combined with a fearless spirit, allowed them to dominate the genteel game at the highest level, replaying it on their own terms. TRAILER: http://youtu.be/9l7qIFu3YDk
