Over the past few months, the Toronto scene has heard its fair share of murmurs about
19-year-old recording artist, NÜE. Who is he? Where is he from? What does he look
like? What does he sound like? As the curiosity continued to build throughout social
media outlets, questions continued to rise. Who is his team? What is that logo? Why do
they Tweet about GOD? Who is this GOD? Toronto wanted more, they wanted in, they
wanted in so bad that followers started posting their logo as their own avatar, hoping for
attention or a simple follow back. They knew that NÜE was the only way in. How could
a young figure, living a low-key lifestyle stir up so much hype?
Well, the wait is finally over. All question are about to be answered and the truth of GOD
is now revealed. His first single entitled, God is released off his Dreamcatcher mixtape.
The overall package NÜE brings to the table is exactly what the hip-hop drought is in
need of. If you want organic and raw, NÜE has it for you.
Go Get your Money Girl! The sensational hook that prepares the listener for what’s to be anticipated; a great single worthy to be a favoured anthem for the “go getter” woman and the man that appreciates them.
Following up from his single “It’s On” and the accompanying remix, Chase Milly stays true to his style; drum laced beat with original and memorable phrases worthy of being quoted. This formula makes for record number plays and requests from local radio stations
Captain Hooks introduces the song doing what he does best! Providing the smooth hook in his silky auto-tuned voice, proclaiming to his girl to “go get” her money; Hooks builds the momentum of the song with mood and style. The “Happy Times” singer infuses his electro sound to the track seamlessly to create a hook that will surely have people singing along.
JD Era lends his talent to the track and once again shows his ability on wax: “Got a Spanish girl to speak French/French girl to speak Spanish/I don’t understand either but I f*** her then she make sandwich.” It’s obvious that his recent signing to IceH2O records has only made him hungrier.
Not to be outdone, Chase Milly steps up in the booth and lays down his own hot verse. Talking about his lady, saying “She my Bonnie I’m her Clyde/riding through the sky/middle fingers in the air screaming f*** them other guys,” It’s easy to see that the emcee isn’t backing down.
Money Girl is the first out of many great compilations to come from Chase Milly to embark the year. Enjoy the anthem of 2012!
I would like to introduce you to a budding rapper/producer/director based in Seattle and NYC with a unique genre-blending style. The artist is Sam Lachow and he recently released his self-produced debut album titled “Brand New Bike”. Sam Lachow produced all the music on this album utilizing live instruments from musicians based in Seattle and New York, rather than samples. This project is a make you feel good album with a funk / jazz harmonic sound laced with clever vocals. This is definitely not your average hip hop album. Below I have included links to Sam’s latest singles, and a link to download the album. The album is also available for fans to download on Sam’s website listed below.

MTV Iggy premiered the completely CGI video for Sole and the Skyrider Band’s “Bad Captain Swag” featuring Lil B and Pictureplane from the band’s Hello Cruel World album released last year. The video was produced by a team of game industry veterans from the Raleigh, NC area, from such design firms as Red Storm Entertainment/UbiSoft, Insomniac Games & Virtual Heroes. Their work was done on their own free time – out of love for indie artists – and is not an officially sponsored product of their respective firms. The video takes place in a not so distant dystopian future full of robot soldiers and a totalitarian computer system from which Sole, the band, Pictureplane and a katana wielding Lil B must free humanity.
