I wrote & recorded this song in 2008 around election time but never released it, it was supposed to be part of my Social Work LP. It is as relevant today as it was back then, one verse about the state of Hip-Hop and the other on the state of the Government which has not changed at all in 2012.

Next week, on September 3rd, Full |REBEL| Jacket will release their new EP, the REBEL EP. The project, which will be offered to fans as a free download, includes features from Big Rube, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Nikkiya, who have shown up on previous EP leaks “Stray Bullet,” “Purple Lights,” and “Higher,” respectively, along with a guest shot from Houston favorite Chalie Boy and others. Today, Full |REBEL| Jacket is releasing their first solo leak from the REBEL EP, with the song “Bacon.”
“Bacon” comes as a change of pace from previous single “Higher,” a slowed, low-end jazzy affair, with this new track showing off the Phoenix – by way of Dallas and Anchorage – duo’s raw, go-getter side. “The message behind this record is simple: Grind hard,” says one-half of the duo, G, noting that the hook was inspired by an old Pimp C line. The beat, a stripped-down, guitar- and organ-driven track, fits well into that vibe, as G and Q, who makes up the other half of the duo, rap about the persistence and consistency that it takes to win. “Every day a ni**a wake up/ I’m dreaming about the future,” raps G, vowing later in his verse to never loose his artistic path. “In a world full of gimmicks, better focus on reality/ Chain ’round my neck, but slavery never my mentality/ I could show you ni**as how temptation leads to tragedy/ When fame becomes a dream, a ni**a soul becomes a casualty.”

Madchild from Canadian hip-hop legends Swollen Members released his debut solo album “Dope Sick” in stores earlier this week via Battle Axe/Suburban Noize Records. The album has already topped the Canadian iTunes album chart, beating out high profile releases from Slaughterhouse and Alanis Morissette for the #1 spot. To celebrate the album’s release, Madchild has released his new video for the track “Jitters”.
“It was a great day for the independent guy, as my new solo album is holding down the top spot on iTunes. I can’t thank my fans enough for all the support they’ve shown me over the past few years. I am forever thankful that they have stuck with me and continue to support me regardless of whatever trends are happening in music,” said Madchild. “I’m excited to hit the road and play tracks from the record on this upcoming tour with Tech N9ne as he is one of my favorite lyricists and he is one of the hardest working artists in the game! I am really honored and I’m looking forward to this month long tour across the country with him.”
“Dope Sick” was inspired by Madchild’s battle with addiction and offers fans an open look at the cold realities of drug abuse. Not only is the album a story of triumph over adversity, but it has allowed Madchild to be reborn creatively. Unshackled from the chains of his past indiscretions, Madchild has confronted his darkest demons and used them as a source of inspiration to create one of the most insanely captivating hip-hop albums of 2012. Fans can stream “Dope Sick” in its entirety online at http://bit.ly/SNP3zx.
Madchild will serve as direct support to Tech N9ne on his upcoming Canadian tour throughout September.

Canadian punk band Propagandhi will release its sixth album, Failed States, on September 4 via Epitaph. “Duplicate Keys Icaro (An Interim Report)” is the album’s second single and it’s a heavily aggressive rock number with metallic tendencies. The track pairs surging guitars and weighty instrumentation with singer/guitarist Chris Hannah’s spitfire croon. It also sort of makes you want to break stuff, doesn’t it?
Tully Banta-Cain aka “Nova-Cain” has launched a new career as an emerging music artist with his much anticipated album titled “TBC aka Nova & DJ Drama presents Nova Cain.” His first body of work to be released features E-40, Slaine, V-Knuckles, Millys and more. Tully Nova, who played with the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers, has honed his skills off the football field, attracting an entirely new genre of fans and supporters.
Tully Nova’s new album, now available on Amazon.com, includes original songs he has been working on for the past 10 years, patiently waiting for the right time to release his work to the masses. The album is a collection of party songs and club bangers that reveal the spiritual struggle in Tully’s life. “My songs show the good side trying to expose my darkness within the music. Everything is based on reality and my lows and highs can be felt even in the tone of my voice throughout the album,” he explains. The solid body of work includes production by VT on the Track, Droop-E, Statik Selektah, and Odie Beats.
Nova-Cain’s new album is just the beginning of the launch of a lucrative musical career. With a new EP coming in the fall titled “The Release” and another EP with Bay Area hip-hop star Laroo, Tully Nova plans to take the music industry by storm, introducing the world to who he is as an artist. “My upcoming EP will show people who I really am as an artist and how versatile my voice can be. I’m excited to finally put out all of this music I’ve taken my time to create,” remarks Tully Nova.
Now a free agent, Tully has the opportunity to make serious moves off the football field. “When it comes to music, if I do it right, I could be really successful at it,” he says. Emerging as a new artist to watch, Nova-Cain’s talent with an expanding fan base will undoubtedly catapult him into the national spotlight, making his mark as more than a pro athlete, but also a musical genius.

“I Ain’t Shit; I’m The Shit”, the latest single off Jesse Abraham’s upcoming I Am Water album, explores a duplicity that exists within us all. Sometimes we feel invincible, and other times we feel invisible. The song is an internal dialogue in which the notion of staying true to oneself emerges as the most harmonious option. “It turns out that a battle within ourselves only does damage to ourselves” explains Jesse.
The Stay Young EP was released on DJ Benzi’s Get Right Records and the song was even recently spun by Chuckie himself on BBC Radio 1. “Stay Young” has been taking the internet by storm ever since the audio was released and it has garnered over 35,000 plays on Soundcloud and thousands more on YouTube. With Silver Medallion’s amazing vocals and Dstar’s killer production, the song has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now and hope it will become one of yours as well.
At champagne addled brunches across America, Silver Medallion’s “Stay Young” has proven the catalyst for many a gallery on Champagne Facials. In one night at an unnamed college campus DJ Benzi, Silver Medallion and Kavan The Kid packed a basement full of edm lovers and rocked till the police came and out came the video for “Stay Young”.
From the sunset shadows strolls in Wax Organix–a Vancouver-Island (Nanaimo) based producer–dropping an electronic album rich in flexed funk and sexy sample. His ability to unearth the grooves and construct hypnotic rhythms from them is immediately evident once you hit the play button on “blackened white”. The glockenspiel+string+sitar+bassline delicacy of “Rise of the Daywalker” starts the album off with flair, followed by “Cycles”–a groove that could easily be the soundtrack to a montage scene of DJ Shadow digging for his records. As the album progresses, each track introduces an entirely different feel, keeping the listening experience fresh and diverse.
A full-length masterpiece, this 12-track LP brings consistent sample-driven music with such expressive variety in each track’s construction that there is little question that Wax Organix pushes his sound-art to the limits, while at the same time never losing sight of what gets one’s head nodding.
Available for download for free with donations welcome, this one is not to be slept on!

New one from NY singer/producer/songwriter I/O. He keeps a low profile and let’s the lush, dark music speak for itself (frequently about heartbreak). Love this cut.

Fredericksburg, VA rapper Dito Fresko of Worst Generation follows up “Passion” brings to us his 2nd single from “Hello It’s Me” entitled “Savagery & Lust (Pikachu)”! “Savagery & Lust”, produced by Tyler the Creator features fellow Worst Generation Artist Sam D. Brown as they go back and forth discussing their opinions and sexuality with the opposite sex. The trippy beat does great justice to the blunt lyrics and the flows are quite refreshing. Please don’t sleep on “Savagery & Lust” the track is a breath of fresh air and consistent with the values of Worst Generation.
