Just weeks before they enter the Octagon® at Bell Centre in Montreal, the stars of UFC® 154: ST-PIERRE vs. CONDIT took a break from training to discuss their favorite Halloween costumes. As they gear up for the highly anticipated Pay-Per-View card on Saturday, Nov. 17, read what some of the sport’s top stars had to say.
UFC welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre:
“I was usually disguised as a ninja for Halloween because I have been a martial arts fan ever since I was a young age. My favorite part of Halloween is the candy, because I love candy.”
UFC interim welterweight champion, Carlos Condit:
“Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. Ever since I was a kid, I loved to get dressed up in different stuff. I used to celebrate Halloween for three or four days, go to parties and try to string it out as long as I could.
“My favorite costume is tough because there have been so many crazy ones. I have been the devil and I liked being a hacked-up zombie with fake blood.”
“I’m definitely looking forward to Halloween this year with my daughter being able to understand more. I’m excited to go around trick or treating with her. She’s wearing a cow costume and she likes to run around the house in her costume saying ‘MOO.’
“I was always a ninja, boxer or something to do with combat sports for Halloween, so I think it pre-planned what I was going to be one day.”
“Coming from Denmark, I’m pretty new to Halloween so I’ve only dressed up a few times. But I think I’d have to say that my full-sized Scooby Doo costume was my overall favorite.”
“My favorite costume has to be the one I’ve got planned for this year. I’m going all camouflage for my version of Duck Dynasty. With a beard like mine, it can’t go wrong.”
“My favorite costume that I’ve worn for a fight in the UFC is the one that I’ve worn during my wins; that of a capable mixed martial arts fighter. I’m joking of course. My favorite is probably my 80’s workout themed ‘Let’s Get Physical’ entrance, not based entirely on my costume, but rather the fact that my corner men stayed in character while pumping workout bands and curling pink five-pound dumbbells for the entire walk to the Octagon.”
“Unfortunately, the UFC fans were not able to enjoy my many Halloween costumes comprised entirely of body paint such as a Ninja Turtle, Power Ranger and polar bear due to dangers associated with paint-on costumes, but I digress. My favorite fight entrance costume I have done thus far was in a regional promotion early in my fighting career. I donned full New Kids on the Block regalia and did the New Kids’ dance to ‘Hangin’ Tough.’ Any time I can emulate my hometown musical heroes is a joyous day in my life.”
“My favorite Halloween costume of all time was my Zombie Red Riding Hood. I wanted a cool original costume and I came up with the idea to be a sort of ‘Walking Dead’ Red Riding Hood. It was a fun costume and everywhere I went people were freaked out. It was the best Halloween ever (laughs).”
“My favorite costume ever was last year when I dressed up like Steven Tyler of Aerosmith!”
As our eerie east coast eavesdroppers deal with the scary effects of superstorm Sandy, it’s time to irrigate this All Hallows Eve with the horrifying audio ho that is PUSSYFOOT. For their blood-soaked 50th broadcast, Matt ‘n Matt have coupled killer content with terrifying toe-tappers…
Chopping things off, portly film phantasm BLAKE EVERETT unleashes a spook-tastic summation of ‘American Scary’ (currently streaming online). Honoring homespun horror hosts, this dastardly doc gets dissected in a bone-chilling ‘Blake at the Movies.’ Next, MYSTI MAYH3M–the monster-mashing ‘in memorium’ mamacita–wreaks Halloween havoc. Her Octobit is proof that even the Grim Reaper hisself knows how to navigate the sovereign seas. And finally, the guffawing ghoul EDDIE ROUSE happily haunts three listeners as a three pack of write-ins turns deadly. The scary side of sex, encased in ectoplasm…don’t miss this ‘Eddie’s Sagelike Advice.’
Our keynote guest this month: serial ceramifan, MIKE KING. An author (and authority) on all-things Kreiss Ceramic, Mr. King shines PF’s white hot Halloween spotlight on the brand’s eek-inducing excursion into the world of ‘Psycho Ceramics.’
Here’s the blackstory: in the early 1960s Kreiss & Co. began shilling frighteningly psychedelic gag gifts. These bizarre baubles–designed and conceived by a team of trippy, forever unknown Japanese artisans–were mass produced and sold throughout the United States at pharmacies, truck stops, and five and dimes. After meeting with initial popularity, by the 1970s these crazed creations had become marginalized for their lowbrow lunacy. However, thanks to the efforts of conscientious collectors like Mr. King, these kitsch chatchkies are making a considerable comeback. The ‘Foot travels to Alliance, Ohio to sit down with the man largely responsible for America’s psycho ceramic resurgence.
(And don’t forget to peep the petrifyingly pictoral Pussyfoot pdf, showcasing King’s carefully-cultivated Kreiss collection!)
All that, plus a vaguely-scary songlist dotted with deadly ditties and beastly boppers.

David Versis, who in collaboration with Warner-Chappell signed producer Arthur McArthur released a video for a song off of their June 2012 mixtape Poetic Symphonies And Like Minded Souls (P.S.A.L.M.S.)
“Normally I have a really long, detailed, philosophical explanation as to the meaning of my album and what I was trying to do. And I certainly do, but this time, I will try not to overcomplicate things.
Parallel lines refer to two lines that never intersect or touch…which is how i feel about this music shit lately. I’m certainly not the only musician doing the kind of music that I do, but I find a lot of pressure in all sorts of places to follow the same type of formula as other artists, many of which I’m fans of. However, I would rather stay in my own lane…i believe that the destination is ultimately the same. Kind of one of those ideas that is applicable in all fascades of life, ultimately, the purpose is to what makes sense and suits you, rather than altering yourself to fit in with everybody else, at the end of the day, we are all striving and moving in the same direction.
In terms of the music, I wanted to challenge myself more. very little sampling, spent a lot of time trying to work on the actual composition of everything so that my music feel more like songs, than just beats. I suppose it will ultimately be up to you to decide whether it worked, or if you like it or not. I just wanted to step a bit outside of my comfort zone and approach the body of music from a different standpoint, being at a different point in my life. Nevertheless, enjoy. Many thanks for all of the support.”
