This season’s Ultimate Fighter featuring Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen has so far proved to be entertaining. Episode 2 aired Tuesday night, and featured the first quarterfinal matchup and the first fight since the 16 contenders for the TUF 17 entered the house. Gilbert Smith of team Jones squared off against Luke Barnatt of team Sonnen. Many were puzzled by Jones choosing to put his number four pick up against the number one pick of Sonnen, including some of Smith’s teammates. In any case everybody’s doubts were correct when Barnatt scored a late KO of Smith in the second round of their match. Until that point, the fight was pretty much a draw, which can also raise the question, just how good is Sonnens number one pick. In any case Team Sonnen now has the advantage. On next week’s episode Chael Sonnen went with his No. 2 pick Uriah Hall to matchup against Team Jones’ No. 6 pick Adam Cella.

Today UPC is proud to premiere the sophomore project from J.Mars titled, After Lights. When JM reached out with the opportunity for us to get on board with this project, we didn’t think twice and knew that it would be something special. Sure enough, our predictions couldn’t be more true. Upon listening to his impressive debut The Reservation last February, and the teaser “Kingdom Hearts” he released in November, it wasn’t hard to hear his drive and aspiration to grow as an artist. His potential for longevity has budded with his latest release serving as a clear testament to his coming success.
Not only is this project exceptionally crafted both in lyricism and on the production end, but it acts as a four-act ethereal journey through Mars’ music. It puts his versatile style on display by way of various cuts, including more laid back songs such as “Takers,” as well as tracks with a bit more bounce like “L&W” and “Far Away,” all highlighted by his punctual flow.
This time around he recruits Philly’s own Chill Moody, as well as Shawn Welch, and I.R.V. for features. JM’s ear for beats also brought in the likes of Mike Horn, Taz Taylor, Fisticuffs, M&D, Epic, Swollen Drumz, Jehf Slaps, Jeff Milnazik, and Tom Davids on the production end.

Taken from his current EP End Of The Weak. The instrumental of the song is carried by a warm guitar riff as Thai Matic details his woes to the backdrop of a consistently echoing clap. Within the song Thai Matic seems to ultimately concede to inner demons confessing that he is what he is and fighting the current is energy consuming and worthless.
Confess he may but it does not leave Thai Matic with a free conscience. Life can be a rollercoaster, turbulent and rough, and in conclusion the troubles of ones past can eventually leave you with a deep hole in your heart.

For his “No Love Allowed” remix he brought on singer Notch to add some dancehall flavor. “I still believe Notch is one of the best singers I have ever heard, because of his versatility and unique tone,” says Tech. “So this record is like what white label remixes were back in the day. You just heard a dope record and said ‘lets freak this out!’ I did it back in the day with D’Angelo and Brown Sugar. It’s still fun to me.” Tech and Sway recently brought the Wake Up Show to Sirius XM’s Shade 45 radio.
