FLOWERS OF HELL TO RELEASE SOPHOMORE ALBUM, COME HELL OR HIGH WATER JUNE 15th 2010
16 PIECE ORCHESTRAL ROCK GROUP COMPLETES PROJECT WITH HELP FROM MEMBERS OF BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE, THE PATTI SMITH GROUP, BRITISH SEA POWER, BAT FOR LASHES AND MORE.
Over 30 musicians in over 40 sessions were pulled together in London, Toronto, Prague, Detroit, and Abilene, Texas for this masterpiece to be realized. Early support from the likes of NASA (as in the space orginazation), My Bloody Valentine, etc…
The trans-atlantic space orchestra known as the Flowers of Hell has plans to release their sophomore album, Come Hell Or High Water, June 15th 2010 on Unfamiliar Records. The 16 piece experimental orchestra led by Greg Jarvis recruited help from some of the industry’s best musicians including members of Broken Social Scene, Guided By Voices, The Patti Smith Group, Spiritualized, British Sea Power, Bat For Lashes, Spacemen 3, and others to help complete the project. Over 30 musicians in over 40 sessions were pulled together in London, Toronto, Prague, Detroit, and Abilene, Texas for this masterpiece to be realized.
In 2002, Canadian Greg Jarvis started the Flowers Of Hell as a studio project in London. Three years later the project expanded into a live British band and extended across the ocean to Toronto in 2008. Their debut self-titled album received critical praise for creating classical tangents reminiscent of The Velvet Underground & Nico and the late Spacemen 3/early Spiritualized sound.
In the Fall of 2008 by special request from My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields, the group opened for My Bloody Valentine on one of the eight dates of the North American reunion tour. Yet an accolade came from a much higher place when NASA’s mission control staff declared their love for the band’s symphonic space rock, synching one of their songs with footage of Discovery’s 2009 voyage. The video went viral amongst Space Center workers, resulting in the band appearing on the Space Channel.
The composing, recording, arranging and mixing of Come Hell Or High Water was done largely by Greg Jarvis following his timbre-to-shape synaesthetic visions. Synaesthesia is a neurological phenomenon where two senses are intermingled. With the rare timbre-to-shape variant, sounds involuntarily trigger a translucent visual layer of moving shapes which follow a consistent audio-visual language. Greg Jarvis explains, “I see sounds. When I hear sounds, I see each timbre in front of me as shapes that follow patters, often gliding, pulsing and swirling, while the rhythm and timing interlock them all. Each timbre behaves differently, and that’s the main reason we’ve got such a variety of instruments on the album.”
Nonesuch Records/Warner Music Canada Releases Björk’s Voltaic, March 30. 2010
Björk announces a very special DVD/CD recording, Voltaic, to be released in Canada by Nonesuch Records/Warner Music Canada on March 30, 2010. Voltaic is a lovingly packaged celebration of two years of Björk’s Volta activities—her critically praised sixth studio album, which came out in 2007, and the subsequent two-year world tour.
Voltaic DVD contains filmed highlights from the Volta tour, recorded in Paris and Reykjavik, with performances of songs from Volta as well as tracks from previous albums including Hunter,Joga, Army of Me, and Hyperballad.
Björk’s band on the Volta tour included Mark Bell (LFO) on computers and keyboards and Damian Taylor on keyboards and programming. Drums and percussion were played by Chris Corsano (Sonic Youth, etc.); Jónas Sen played piano, harpsichord, and church organ; and Björk’s all female Icelandic 10-piece brass section rounded out the group. A dynamic, grand live experience, theVolta tour has been acclaimed around the world. As the Guardian (UK) said in its five-star review, “Björk delivers a performance as visually spectacular as it is musically innovative. Fifteen years into her solo career Björk remains the least compromising and most fantastical pop superstar talent.”
Voltaic CD is a selection of songs from the Volta tour recorded live at the legendary Olympic Studios in London, just before Björk’s headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival in 2007. It was recorded in one afternoon, and the whole set was played live and captured in one take before being produced and mixed by Björk.
Voltaic serves as a coda to Volta, an album about which NME said “Volta is a thunderous return as enchanting as Debut,’’ while Q described it as “the best album that Björk has done in a decade—a reminder of what a vital force she is.”
Björk recently completed the theme song called “The Comet Song” for the film “Moomins and The Comet Chase” which will premiere at Cannes Film Festival in May . For more information on the film, please visit www.originalmoomin.com.

Miles Jones is a rising star in the Toronto hip-hop scene, but for those who know him best this does not come as a surprise. Bass runs through Jones veins. His grandfather helped pioneer the reggae movement at Studio One in Jamaica where Bob Marley and many others recorded their first big hits, while his father Hedley Jones aka Deadly Hedley Jones Jr. was an influential DJ on CFNY-FM and the early Toronto club scene.
Miles continues this tradition by being active in all aspects of music as a DJ, producer, emcee, songwriter and the owner of his own label Mojo Records & Publishing. A true student of the craft, Jones debut album One Chance also served as his thesis at McMaster University. The disc was released to critical acclaim and even helped garner Jones the 2007 Ontario Independent Music Award for Hip Hop Artist of the Year. Miles has also been recognized for his song writing talents. He helped contribute 11 songs to Sony BMGs music catalogue as part of the Canadian Idol songwriters conference.
Through 2008, Miles Jones has continued to ride this wave of success opening for veteran hip-hop legends KRS-One and Souls of Mischief of Hieroglyphics fame. While Miles remains true to the lyrical and poetic integrity of hip-hop, he is also in touch with the current direction of music. He has opened for up and comers Thunderheist and opened for international phenomenons T-Pain and Raekwon of Wu-Tang in Halifax in October 2008. 2008 also saw the beginning of Miles Jones international music career with a performance in Osaka, Japan.
The future is bright for this young emcee, Miles a man of great drive and passion has taken responsibility for his own destiny, funding and executive producing his new album Runaway Jones. Miles had the chance to work with some of his childhood icons as well of some of todays rising stars, including the first single Never Too Late that was produced by Detroit’s Black Milk.

RAPPER DONNIS GETS SIGNED TO ATLANTIC RECORDS
ON THE COVER OF THE XXL ‘FRESHMAN 10′ ISSUE
JOINS “CROWD CONTROL TOUR” CROSS-COUNTRY TREK
DEBUT ALBUM SLATED FOR LATER THIS YEAR
“FASHIONABLY LATE” MIXTAPE DUE OUT THIS MONTH
Atlantic Records has announced the signing of their new artist Donnis who has released the details of his first-ever US tour. The rising rapper will be among the multi-artist hip-hop bill entitled the “Crowd Control Tour,” also featuring Kidz In The Hall, 88-Keys and Izza Kizza. The 16-city trek kicked off on Sunday, February 28th at New York City’s Highline Ballroom, with dates then continuing through early April.
Donnis is quickly making a name as one of the most talented new stars on the Southern hip-hop scene. The Georgia-based MC first attracted attention last year with 10.Deep’s breakout mixtape, “DIARY OF AN ATL BRAVE,” and has since scored major appeal amongst listeners with his smoothed out rap anthem, “Gone” (released on revered DJ/Producer A-trak’s Brooklyn based Fool’s Gold Records). “Donnis is a truly original, compelling new voice on the hip-hop landscape, and we pulled out all the stops to bring him into the Atlantic family. His creativity and lyrical flow are hugely impressive, and the Diary of an ATL Brave mixtape was a captivating introduction to this major talent. Now that we’ve sealed the deal, we’re looking forward to watching Donnis take it to the next level” proclaimed Atlantic Records Chairman and CEO Craig Kallman.
While hard at work completing his Atlantic debut album, Donnis will keep listeners entertained with his new mixtape “Fashionably Late” set to be released this month. Currently featured in the March issue of XXL’s “Show and Prove”, Donnis will also be included in the magazine’s hugely influential “Freshmen 10″ alongside West Coast rapper Nipsey Hussle and J. Cole from North Carolina. The talented rapper who has already shared stages with such luminaries as T.I., Chingy, and 112 - will also be among the new stars performing at the upcoming South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.

D-Sisive - Every Rose Has Its Thorn
Dear friends,
For the past month and a half I’ve been locked up in the studio with producer extraordinaire Andrew “Fresh Kils” Kilgour (Shania Twain, ACDC, Jon Secada) recording the follow up to my Multi-Platinum, Latin Grammy Award-Winning debut LP, Let The Children Die. Though we are near completion, we are still a few months away from the release of Vaudeville.
Not being prolific is something I’ve been guilty of. Ive been attacked in the press, and insulted by fans for leaving them dry without new material. Its been days since my name has appeared on a blog, and for that, some devoted listeners have deemed me dead. Its been weeks since Ive released new music, and for that I apologize. Im not a machine. Im merely a man. Flesh and bones. A robot, I am not.
Which is why I’ve decided to give you a taste. A lick of the spoon. A nibble of the cake. A swig of the sauce. A swallow of Vaudeville.
I selected the song that best represents where Im going, yet never abandoning where Ive been. Underground Hip-Hop, but with a twist. A journalist for Black Hair Magazine once labeled me The Bret Michaels of Rap. Now Im ready to proudly wear that crown. Or Cowboy Hat. A spiky brimmed, solid gold cowboy hat covered with jewels. Sitting atop a gold dipped bandana covered with emeralds that cannot be ruined by sweat.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I proudly present to you…
Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
