Barbadian Dancehall, Hip-Hop Artist Vizion Readies New Album And Single For 2010

vizionBarbados Singer/Songwriter Vizion, Set to Release New Album and Single in 2010.

Singer/songwriter and Dancehall/Hip-Hop artist, Vizion is set to release his debut album “All or Nothing” in the Fall of 2010, with the first single “Stunnin’” due in March.

Oliver Louis Gale, 23, is from the island of Barbados (home of Rihanna, Shontelle, Jaicko, Vita…). Having a Barbadian father and an English mother, he has an original look. His conscious mind, unique vocal style and delivery, have been the driving force behind his music which has become a fusion of R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae and Dancehall. His innate sense of social awareness and his appreciation of different genres of music allow him to explore various avenues in the music industry mixing an original blend of melody and lyrics. Introducing VIZION.

Since returning to Barbados in 2009 from Bristol University in the UK, where he obtained an Honours degree in Business Management, Vizion has been working with local producers, including Hit Island Records, to compile a demo album of original work.

Vizion was greatly influenced at a very early age by The Jamaican Dance Hall genre (Including such artists as: Sean Paul, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer). In 2001, at 14, Vizion began emulating the sounds of his favorite artists recording on his personal computer. These samples soon found their way to many of his friends and eventually to House Party DJ’s. In 2003, during his time at boarding school in Canada, Vizion began to explore his musical diversity and ventured into the genre of Rap/Hip Hop. He soon realized that by fusing the two genres together he could create a unique sound which he is known for to date. On his return to Barbados in 2006 he was introduced to KB Sharp of Hit Island Records, a union which led to his first studio recording and Hit Song – “Girl I Need You” in 2007, produced by Hit Island Records. During his university years Vizion became involved with the underground Hip Hop circuit and continued his performances at clubs and bars around the UK, opening for artists such as Tinchy Stryder.

As a result of the success of his new Hit song, Vizion soon began performing in Barbados at some of the island’s most prestigious events: ‘Reggae on the Hill’ with the likes of: Buju Banton, Sizzla, Beres Hammond, ‘Reggae on the Beach’ with the likes of: Tessanne Chin, Baby Cham, Wayne Wonder, ‘The Kensington Oval’ with the likes of: Anthony B, Frankie Paul, Stephen Marley and at various local night clubs, in collaboration with other local artists. During this time Vizion recorded and performed with a variety of regional artists including Ayana John, Roache Killa and Buggy. By the end of 2007 the video for “Girl I Need You” was released. The video was produced by Lucid Entertainment and co-produced and managed by Vizion himself.

In 2008, Vizion was nominated at the Barbados Music awards in three categories, including Best New artist and Best Reggae artist. With an Honours degree under his belt and with the evolution of himself as an artist underway, Vizion is working everyday on his musical development, and is determined to make his dream of becoming an internationally recognized recording artist come true.

Assassin a.k.a. Agent Sasco – The New Performance King

assassin_rebelsalute_2010Assassin has secured his place as one of dancehalls best stage performers. This was evident at the recent staging of Pepsi Rebel Salute where he closed the show.

Thousands of patrons waited in the morning sun for Agent Sasco to take the stage. It was not until 8:25 am that Assassin, dressed in full khaki, took the stage to deliver yet another splendid performance. He had fans singing along to hits like Hand to mouth, Wha Do Dem Guy Deh,Priority, Almighty Protect to name a few.

Stage show fans have shown that Assassin performance is the type of performance that is appreciated and should be expected from top artist of his caliber. Too long they have been shortchanged by artists who choose to do two lines of each song then “Pull Up” or “Dash Whey Dat” to the patrons’ disgust as they really never get to hear the songs performed but only to be teased.

Assassin has grown over the years, and with growth come maturity and Agent Sasco is the product of such. Agent Sasco is an extension of Assassin that focuses more on the issues in society.  He has been giving excellent performances even receiving and extended round of applause after his recent performance at Sting 2009 and proved to be the “Real Big Man” at Guinness Sounds of Greatness.

Major Lazer - Keep Watch Vol.10 - C

ABOUT THE MIX
Today marks the tenth installment of Mishkaʼs illustrious Keep Watch mixes. From the outset, music has always played a big role in shaping the Mishka brand. With strong ties to various artists, and a creative team that is constantly inspired and influenced by their musical predilections the Keep Watch Mixes have become as much of the Mishka fabric as its seasonal line.
Ten volumes and approximately one year later, the mixes have greatly exceeded all expectations. As a result, weʼve decided to celebrate the 10th installment in a special way. For our tenth volume, we enlisted the services of electro-reggae-dancehall virtuoso Major Lazer. And to coincide with the special mix, Mishka produced a limited run Major Lazer tee designed by Skinny Digital. Long time supporters of Mishka and often considered family, the t-shirt was a perfect way to compliment the Major Lazer curated mix.
