The Canadian Soccer Association has announced that the Canadian women’s national team will host China PR this 30 September 2010 at BMO Field in Toronto, ON. The Women’s International Friendly match, to be presented by Winners, will kickoff at 19.30 local. Snoop Dogg Honored By VH1 For His Snoop Youth Football League
This past month, DoSomething.org and VH1 partnered to present the 2010 “Do Something Awards” to honor young people, as well as celebrities for their commitment to social change. As an advocate for uplifting and inspiring inner-city children, Snoop Dogg was awarded with this year’s “Do Something For The Kids” award for his admirable charity football league called, Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL). Furthermore, the Snoop Youth Football League will be expanding to Chicago, IL at a free football clinic for about 200 8- to 14-year-old boys from Chicago Housing Authority families. Canada-Honduras tickets on sale Tuesday 20 July
Tickets for the Canada-Honduras Men’s International Friendly match will go on sale this Tuesday 20 July at 10.00 ET. Canada will host 2010 FIFA World Cup™ participant Honduras on Tuesday 7 September at Stade Saputo in Montréal, QC. The match, presented by BMO, will kick off at 19.30.
Fans can purchase their tickets via Admission at www.Admission.com or 1.800.361.4595. Ticket prices start as low as $20 while premium tickets cost just $40. Group rates are available in select sections with the purchase of 10 or more tickets.
“This is simply an excellent opportunity for the national team and its players,” said national head coach Stephen Hart. “Playing at home is always special and I am certain both the players and Canadian fans will welcome this announcement.”
Canada will play back-to-back home matches on FIFA international dates in early September. On 4 September (17.30 kickoff), Canada faces Peru at BMO Field in Toronto (Ticketmaster / 416.872.5000). The Canadian team then flies to Montréal to face Honduras on 7 September (19.30 kickoff).
Canada last faced Honduras at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the quarter final stage. Honduras won 1:0 on a penalty kick goal. In 2010, Honduras was one of three CONCACAF nations that participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
Honduras is Canada’s second 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ opponent this year. In a trip to South America in late May, Canada lost to eventual quarter-final participant Argentina on 24 May. On that same trip, Canada also drew 1:1 with Venezuela on 30 May.
With South Africa now complete, the world turns its attention to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. The Canada-Honduras match is part of Hart’s early preparations in advance of the next FIFA World Cup™ Qualifiers, which are expected to begin in 2012. In between, Hart and the Canadian squad will also have the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup (schedule also yet to be announced).

With the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ nearing its completion, the Canadian Soccer Association reported the results of an Ipsos Reid study that found 78% of Canadians agree that it is important for Canada to have a team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. Further to this, if Canada had a team in the FIFA World Cup™ 86% would cheer for their country first.
Kehinde Wiley exhibition makes its way to Cape Town for June 2010 celebrations
Internationally acclaimed artist, Kehinde Wiley, has partnered with PUMA to create four original works of art inspired by three of football’s most decorated players, Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, John Mensah of Ghana and Emmanuel Eboué of Ivory Coast. Wiley painted three individual portraits of each player wearing the Africa Unity Kit, and then a fourth ‘Unity’ Portrait was painted with all three players together, symbolizing the united countries of Africa.
These individual portraits, measuring 1.8 by 1.5 metres and the ‘Unity’ portrait measuring 2.7 by 3.6 metres, were unveiled in Berlin in January 2010 and have been travelling as an exhibition beginning in Paris, and will finally end up in South Africa in June.
The Kehinde Wiley exhibition will be held at Studio One, 186 Bree Street, Cape Town, from 24 June – 3 July 2010. Viewing will be open to the public from 10am – 6pm daily. Join in celebrating Africa’s heritage and unity by coming to view this exclusive exhibition.

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is getting ready to select its 2010 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, with auditions starting this Saturday. As part of Toronto’s most exciting and established cheerleading team, you’ll capture the attention of more than 30,000 Argos fans at Rogers Centre and maybe even travel to the Argos home game in Moncton in September, as well as the Grey Cup Championship in Edmonton in November. This is your opportunity to meet some amazing people, support some meaningful charity events and act as a role model for many young girls by leading the Jr. Argos Cheerleaders.
This year’s team will be led by new Head Coach Jorie Brown. A gifted dancer and choreographer, Jorie was an Argos cheerleader from 2002-2005 before joining the Raptors Dance Pak for several seasons. Trained in all facets of dance, Jorie is currently a VJ on BPM TV, Canada’s first and only dance channel. She is the host of her own music request show called “Back @ Ya!” that can be seen daily. Jorie’s true passion, other than cheering on the Double Blue, is her love of teaching. She is a mentor to over 100 competitive and recreational students at AB Dance in Markham, Ontario. As a teacher and choreographer, the York University graduate has produced many award-winning competitive routines.
If you are female, 19 years and over, reliable, physically fit with dance, cheer or gymnastics experience and a positive attitude – we want you to try out! The Argos Cheerleaders have been an integral part of the Argo game day experience for over 30 years and now is your turn to come out and become one of the 33 members of the team. Dutch National Team is back in FIFA Soccer 10
Electronic Arts in cooperation with the Royal Netherlands Football Association, announced that the DUTCH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM is now included in FIFA Soccer 10. The Royal Netherlands Football Association and EA SPORTS reached an agreement regarding all players of the Dutch selection in FIFA Soccer 10. Players like Wesley Sneijder, Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Mark van Bommel can be selected in their real DUTCH NATIONAL TEAM kits!
Previously it was only possible to play a fictitious DUTCH NATIONAL TEAM without real player likenesses and the official kits – but this is now history.
FIFA Soccer 10 will be available October 2 in Europe and October 20 in North America.

Taking off the talkbox right after a North American tour, the singer, songwriter, producer, record mogul and all-around great T-Pain discusses road life, food and drink, Zapp and Roger, and the state of his industry.

How many languages do you speak? Uh … one? (laughs) One-and-a-half – I’m learning Spanish. I suck at it so bad.
Is there going to be a Spanish remix? Not at all. A couple words in there like “fuego” – that’s
the only one I know right now.
Your previous album Epiphany had more of a message, with songs like “Suicide” to help the kids, something they definitely needed. But this time around, on Thr33 Ringz, it’s more about clubs and partying. Yes, because that’s what I’ve been doing lately. It’s just more fun on this album. I don’t want to get too serious with it and have people think I’m getting old. It’s just that time to get in the clubs – not even in the clubs,
but to just have fun. You should get up and dance or something, even if you’re at work.
How live does it get on the road? Not that live – unless my wife is there. Then it gets live. Real live.
Now that everybody has ripped off your sound you’re saying that people should kick back to you? Nah, they ain’t gotta kick back, they just gotta show recognition. You got Lil’ Wayne saying the reason he’s
doing it is because of me; you’ve got Kanye saying the same, that he’s getting it all from T-Pain. These are two
of the greatest, so if some peon can’t say that and acts like he’s coming up with something new, what does
that make you look like. Two geniuses are saying it and you’re not? That’s low, and it makes a fool out of you.
So you love Roger Troutman and his sound with Zapp? I wouldn’t say he’s a major influence, because that’s
the only effect I found that made me different. Roger used the actual vocoder, and that’s one of the hardest
instruments to use, because you gotta stick this tube in your mouth. And then, you gotta not spit in the tube
– because then you can get electrocuted and, shit, I don’t do that. I can’t deal with that.
Long live T-Pain. Yeah. (laughs)
What do you think is the state of the music business these days? It’s T-Pain right now far as I can see. I don’t really see anything else happening. Just a whole bunch of Auto-Tune, everywhere you look.
How do you label your music, then? It’s not hip-hop. It’s not R&B. What is it? Hard R&B. I’ve got my own genre.
So it’s just you in that genre? Well, there are a couple others in there now: Wayne’s in there, Kanye’s in there, Diddy’s in there now, actually. Timbaland slipped on over there. Nelly wants to come.
Akon helped make you a big success by signing you to a deal. But then Akon worked with Kardinal Offishall on “Dangerous”, which was a massive tune. But why do you think Kardinal’s album failed to sell after that? I have no idea. I don’t think there was any promotion on Akon’s side. Nobody knew about it. Akon is so busy – something I’m experiencing now with my own label. It’s hard to be both a CEO and one of the biggest artists in the world at the same time.
How do you get people to notice an artist you’re trying to sell? I’ve got street teams, promotions, TV commercials, radio commercials. Akon never took me on tour with him – but I take all my artists on tour with me,
because even if the audience doesn’t know them by name, they will know they’re associated with T-Pain.
The game is all about association. Let them do one song on your tour. Let them stand by you for a
minute-and-a-half so people can take pictures of y’all together. Those pictures will then get on the internet
and people will make that identification. If I bring out an R&B artist people will go crazy – especially
if he’s not using Auto-Tune.
Who are the artists on your Nappy Boy Digital label? We got Tae Dizm, whose single “Beam Me Up” features
Rick Ross and me. We got Young Cash’s single “Let’s Make a Movie” and Sophia Fresh’s single “What It Is”
These artists are being launched online and I take every opportunity to get them to come up on stage
with me. Do it for your artists, man.
What is your sneaker game like? I’m all New Balance. People feel like they’re regular guy kicks, but I got them because of the NB – which stands for Nappy Boy.
What role has your image played? Nothing. I don’t think I have an image to uphold. I’m just
me. Nothing about me is a gimmick. A lot of people think the jewelry is a gimmick, but you gotta be iced-out all the time – this is the stuff I’ve always wanted. Just like how I’ve always wanted a shotgun from a particular spot in Tallahassee. When I got money I went and bought the shotgun. I wanted a certain kind of car from a certain person. When I got money I called him and said, “You’re gonna give me that car right now.” Michael Jackson never had a childhood and that’s why he chills and hangs out with kids. Me, I got rich, and can do things I never did for myself beforehand.
So what is the retirement dream? The dream is to take my kids as far as they can go. But I ain’t trying to retire – if I’ve gotta keep working for the kids to live good, then that’s what it is.
You’ve had a lot of success but also seem to be on the record talking about people calling you corny
and disrespecting you. I’m not Mr. Gangster, I don’t talk about selling dope, and that’s why people call me corny – because I don’t smoke weed. I ask people why they smoke, though, and the answer is always “I don’t know.” I know a lot of people can’t do stuff unless they are high, I get that – like suffering from glaucoma, I get that. But do I have to be someone I’m not in order to be cool to you? In that case, I’m not trying to be cool.
What is your favourite drink? NUVO. It’s pink, though. But then you mix it with Hennessy and it’s all manly, and you drink it. So, it’s great.
And what is your favourite food? Whatever I can fit in between interviews.

What is your earliest sneaker memory? Wow, my earliest sneakers were Patricks, and will never forget the day when a coach from London Youth Soccer brought me out to get Lottos.
Where would you go for sneakers when growing up in Toronto? We had to depend on random sports stores to provide us with cheap soccer cleats. When we played tournaments in the U.S. we would buy most of our sneakers there because it was cheaper
What do you think has changed most with sneakers over the years? I look at the youth today, and they’re all hip to these fancy shoes, but it’s not the shoes – it’s the hard work and determination behind the person wearing them.
