“Flight 89 stems from me wanting to buy a pair of Retro Jordan 4′s one day and they were sold out. So I caught the Flight 89′s instead because they have the same bottoms and look similar. However, upon purchasing these sneakers I ended up going through many obstacles while walking in my Flights, everyday I wanted to elevate out of these situations I was forced into so I started to gain more knowledge to counteract adversity; and that’s my meaning of being FLY. So in order to attain Flight you must be FLY: THE NEW COOL.” – BLIZZ MCFLY
The Child of Lov is proud to share two new tracks off the self-titled LP which is out now via Double Six Records and Domino Records in North America. He is sharing two of the highlight tracks from the album, “One Day ft. Damon Albarn” and “Owl ft. DOOM.” The Child of Lov sees songwriter/vocalist Cole Williams heading back to the future as both modern soul man and funk revivalist crafting thickly-layered psychedelic grooves with a hip-hop attitude. The album, which was recorded at Damon Albarn’s studio 13 and features contributions from Damon Albarn, Thundercat, and DOOM, possesses a nostalgic reverence for early trailblazers like Little Richard, Otis Redding and James Brown as well as a penchant for the later neo soul of Dilla and D’Angelo. The Child of Lov certifies his scholarly underpinnings with deft songwriting abilities, a voice weathered beyond his years, and a consummate cool that makes him feel like the rightful successor in the long line of musical heavyweights.

“This is my first mixtape of the year, it’s definitely a reflection of what I’ve been playing on tour so far this year, with a few exclusives thrown in there too. It also has a lot of my own edits of tracks which I play out, and but never put them in mixtapes normally. Very pleased to have Yuksek’s new single on there, it’s one of the best tracks for me this year (out in May I think). Andre Laos’ track I think is going to be huge, no release date set yet and I love JDH’s spin on the Little Boot’s track. All of them though I love, listening back it reminds me of some incredible times I’ve had so far this year in Europe and the US”. – Mighty Mouse

The now-25-year-old singer and record producer first had a spot in the
limelight back in 2009, when he came through with his own rendition of
J Martins’ ‘Oyoyo’.
Trading on the format that brought him success few years ago, he puts
together yet another ingenious piece of work in which he remakes some
of his favorite dancehall hits and merges them with a couple of
original materials to display some creativity.
On “I’m On Fire”, Slim Burna also manages to juggle different musical
styles and run through multiple genres. And while his performance
turns out to be pretty impressive, the most significant part is
Gabriel’s effortless combination of dancehall and hiphop genres to
deliver a culturally unconventional end result.
The 15-track mixtape boasts potent lyrics and delivery from the Bonny,
Port Harcourt native and showcases his startling artistic abilities,
versatility and growth as an artist. Guest features come from the
likes of Timaya’s protege Attitude, Squeeze, Bukwild Da Ikwerrian,
Knowledge, Young Stunna and more.
Slim Burna sings about a wide range of subject matters, such as
everyday life and struggles, social issues, sex, drugs, love and the
ambition to be successful. Generally, it’s a glimpse of life from the
perspective of young, self-assured Gabriel Halliday.
