NEW MUSIC: SKYZOO & !LLMIND “SPEAKERS ON BLAST”

Click Here To Listen To “Speakers On Blast”

The lead track off Skyzoo & !llmind’s Live From The Tape Deck album in stores October 5th on Duck Down Music. Music video premiering shortly.

Kanye West Monster (feat. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver & Nicki Minaj)

Intentional or not, Kanye West seems to be in the habit of getting guests on his songs that end up almost overshadowing his own contributions to the song. Case in point, Jay’s verse on that “Diamonds (Remix),” was just unfair. This latest track, “Monster,” is a closer call, Nicki Minaj grabs the Roc and runs off with it, but once again Jay makes ‘Ye look like the little brother of the family. Oh well, boys will be boys, We’re sure Mr. West will pay Jay back in spades on their alleged new EP, Watch The Throne.

An Exclusive One On One Video Puts Fans In The Lab With A Master

Apollo Brown gives fans an intimate look at what goes on in the box when he lays down his highly sought-after beats. He takes the audience through a step-by-step lesson on excellence showing how he puts together a beat starting with the sampling and building all the way up to a polished beat. He starts off with a soulful throwback hook for a sample and blends with a basic but raw drum beats that blend fluidly into another hit for the always-busy producer. After hearing the new beat it is easy to see why the Brown has such a full 2010 on the horizon. He is scheduled for a number or new projects this year including albums with his group The Left(also including rapper Journalist 103), Boog Brown, and Hassan Mackey among others. In the words of Brown, “2010 looks to be fulfilling. Real healthy.”

Rusko Announces North American Tour Dates For September and October

Dubstep trailblazer Rusko has announced a month-long tour starting September 18th in Dallas, Texas and ending October 30th at the HARD Haunted Mansion. The UK-bred DJ released his debut album earlier this year, O.M.G.! on Mad Decent, which features dirty-south staple Gucci Mane, Amber Coffman of the Dirty Projectors, Rod Azlan, and more. His live set mixes these eclectic singers and rappers seamlessly through bass heavy dubstep beats. Rusko keeps one hand on his ear while keeping the crowd thoroughly engaged with his ecstatic stage presence.

Rusko is said to use only original material for his live sets, which isn’t hard to believe considering the long list of artists he’s worked with in the past including Caspa, Diplo, Santigold, Hot Chip and, most recently, production work on M.I.A.’s latest album. Although some samples are mixed into his set, one should expect a very original mix.

Canadian Rapper-Producer “KEELO GRAMZ” Plots Triumphant Return with new deals

Canadian rapper and producer, Keelo Gramz, has signed a marketing deal with The Burnitdown Group LLC. The Burnitdown Group is the independent marketing arm for Shady Records. In conjunction with Black & Blue Signature Marketing, they plan to manage Keelo’s marketing and public relations strategy, overseeing the development and growth of his brand.

No stranger to media or entertainment, the rapper is plotting his triumphant return to the industry. In May 2010, he signed an EP deal with Ice Cold Recordings and is actively seeking a major recording deal. His new website, keelogramz.com, launched Thursday, July 20 during the soft debut of his new single “On Some Other Ish”; which is on radio rotation throughout Canada & the US. The official release party for “On Some Other Ish” will be on the same week of his birthday (Sept. 13 to Sept. 19)

Keelo’s tremendously, successful underground rap career spans across 4 years. The Scarborough native and former High School basketball star, began his music career in 2005 where he spent years recording and performing across Canada & the USA. He released his first indie album, Fortunes of the Fearless, which had 3 singles charting in Canada “Here Ya Go”, “Last Call” and “Somebody Snitched”. Not being adjusted to the “industry life”, Keelo took some time off to perfect his craft and spend time with friends & family.

His music speaks for itself and to the masses and Keelo Gramz has been impressing audiences with his music. As Keelo Gramz himself said, “I’m just a simple guy that’s trying to get my music to the world”, but he’s a lot more than that. He’s a talented musician and producer, an amazing performer and is definitely an artist to watch in 2010 and beyond.

Be sure to check Keelo’s performance at IMPORTFEST’s 10 Year Anniversary on Saturday September 11, 2010 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre

PUSSYFOOT – August 2010: Two-Year Anniversary with Mr. Imagination

August Aichmophobes,

It has indeed been a busy month for the ‘Foot Family. Manufacturing a clothing line, shooting a lookbook, planning an anniversary soiree, and now (finally) unveiling the 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW.

For the AUGUST 2010 episode we find our tried-and-true roster of radio ragamuffins in celebratory form. First up, the man with the venomous vernacular EDDIE ROUSE rips through a trio of listener questions with gonzo aplomb. After cooling his jets for most of the summer, Mr. Clickety-Clack is most definitely back, dispensing streetwise wisdom, vim, and vigor. Next, BLAKE EVERETT takes on two films from opposite ends of the African-American cinema spectrum. In a classic ‘Blake at the Movies’ our resident moviehound scratches-off the Bow-Wow/Ice Cube laugher ‘Lottery Ticket’ whilst jive-talkin’ alongside Terry Zwigoff’s newly-restored blues doc ‘Louie Bluie.’ And MISS SHELLY rounds things out quite nicely with an obit that is quite steamy–in more ways than one.

The keynote guest for the August show…a Pussyfoot exclusive to say the least. MR. IMAGINATION (Gregory Warmack) is one of America’s preeminent visionary artists. For close to 35 years, Mr. I (as he is known to his friends) has been making bizarre and beautiful sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and furniture out of the things we throw away–bottle caps, glass shards, buttons, beads, and nails. His work can be found in the Smithsonian, the Houses of Blues in Chicago and Orlando, the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, and in countless other prestigious institutions the world over.

Sadly, a little over a year ago, tragedy befell Mr. I as his Bethlehem, PA home and workspace burned to the ground. While he was not harmed, the blaze claimed the lives of his slew of loyal pets and destroyed both his prized antique collection and much of his personal art catalogue. As one would, Mr. I slipped into seclusion, all but disappearing from the art world.

Now, in his first interview since this devastating event, Mr. Imagination proudly welcomes Matt and Matt to his new home and museum on the outskirts of ATLANTA, GA to tell his harrowing tale. The move to the South has completely re-energized this self-taught legend and he has set about diligently restoring his fire-damaged art pieces and churning-out a staggering amount of amazing new work. You don’t have to be a fan of outsider art to find this rare glimpse at the elusive Mr. Imagination incredibly moving and hopefully inspiring.

All that, plus a playlist packed with two-year summer anthems.

So join us—and don’t forget our party this Sunday September 5th at El Chavo in Los Angeles—only online at http://www.thehomeofpussyfoot.com

XO,
PF

What is DEAF EARS?

Deaf Ears talks music so you don’t have to

A new podcast series has emerged from the east end of Toronto, featuring two of the sharpest music pundits in all of the GTA.

The Deaf Ears Podcast is hosted by Cam Gordon (Peace/Chart) and Ryan B. Patrick (Exclaim!), and offers a unique listening experience for Canadian music fans. Each episode chooses a singular musical act to celebrate and skewer, as Cam and Ryan riff madly on their relative merits, the quality of their music videos, their eating habits and anything else that comes to mind. “The Deaf Ears M.O. is fairly simple,” says Cam. “We’re trying to replicate the sound and feel of two friends sitting in a bar, talking about music in an unstructured, freeform and half drunk fashion. It’s basically Behind the Music for people who hate Behind the Music.”

To give you a taste of what to expect, Episode 4 focuses on Kim Mitchell with Cam and Ryan debating whether the video for “Patio Lanterns” was racist while Episode 3 targets George Clinton and the amazing fact he’s still alive. Aerosmith, David Bowie and Public Enemy are just a few of the other artists who come under attack and the pair promise regular updates as the series morphs and grows.

The first eight episodes of The Deaf Ears Podcast are currently available for download at http://depodcast.wordpress.com with new episodes posted weekly this fall and beyond.
