One of the highest respects that a hip-hop legend can offer to a rising artist is to invite that rising artist to take part in their own project. That’s exactly what happened when legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon invited Chicago’s L.E.P. Bogus Boys to take part in his Unexpected Victory EP. The project was highly lauded, and this collaboration, “This Shit Hard,” in particular, became a quick fan-favorite.
Today, L.E.P. and Raekwon are excited to release the official music video for the single. The track is just as aggressive as one might expect from collaboration that features Count, Moonie and Rae (“Fuck a middle man, I can get it direct/ Cook it up, watch it bubble in that Pyrex,” begins Count on the song’s chorus), and the video, directed by TEHO (Gregory Bussireth), fits the track well, with the three rappers holding court around a table cluttered with all of the essentials: drugs, money, jewelry, and Chinese food.
For L.E.P., being able to do the song and video with Raekwon was an honor. “Just to be able to work with a legend like Raekwon was enjoyable,” they say. For Raekwon, it was being able to work with up-and-coming act that he respects that made the track and video special. “To be able to bless something with new and upcoming talent was real. I think we all walked away with a new energy for hip-hop.”

DIRTY MP3 DWNLD:
Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Friday—his drop of free new music every Friday until the release of his fifth album—has been racked with epics, gifting us with a couple major posse cuts. There is nothing too out of the ordinary (i.e. no Bon Iver feature) on this one seeing as it’s loaded with friends he’s been collaborating with forever. But sometimes it’s a little surprising when Swizz Beatz is on top of something smoothed out instead of a rap fire alarm call. It’s just five guys laying it down over a beat appropriate for a Sunday afternoon drive, sun shining, but even better for an at home listen, since everyone is coming with it on top of their lyrical games. And who doesn’t want to soak in every single one of Kanye West’s ridiculous punchlines?
Ill Bill, Skam2? and Raekwon collaborate on this ill track (no pun intended). Artwork by world renowned emcee/artist Skam2?, also noted for designing artwork on Eminem‘s The Slim Shady LP and A Tribe Called Quest‘s cover art for Beats, Rhymes & Life.
