JAMAICA’s new video featuring Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera + North American Tour Dates
With the release of their highly anticipated debut album No Problem on the horizon, Jamaica, the French duo formerly known as Poney Poney have announced their next single. ‘Short & Entertaining’ will be released on August 16th through Co-op Music.
Packed with stop-start metallic guitars and fuzzy indie-pop melodies, ‘Short & Entertaining’ is a three minute gem. The video is directed by Jeremie Rozan & Martial Schmetz – from Surface2Air – (Justice vs. Simian, The Streets) and features Igor Cavalera, the drummer and founding member of the Brazilian Thrash metal bandSepultura.
‘No Problem’ was produced in Paris by Grammy Award winners Xavier de Rosnay (Justice) and Peter Franco. Contrary to what people might expect, there isn’t a synth in sight. In fact, the only rule when recording the album was “No synthesizers would be involved!”
Based in Paris, Jamaica are Antoine Hilaire & Flo Lyonnet. Antoine’s inspirations range from Michael Jackson and The Beatles to 60s girl groups and Nirvana, whilst Flo is the electro head but holds a special place in his heart for the likes of Pantera and Rage Against The Machine.
This wide spectrum of influences gives Jamaica its distinct sound: sleek pop hooks and rock undertones alongside super tight electronic production. The album’s yacht rock sound – resplendent with guitar solos reminiscent of Daft Punk’s ‘Discovery’ – arrives just at the right time for summer.
Jamaica who play with a live drummer, opened the NME Radar Stage at The Great Escape earlier this year and are currently supporting Two Door Cinema Club on their French tour.

Mixhell is the husband and wife dance music duo of Iggor and Laima Cavalera. Iggor was the drummer of Sepultura – one the heaviest metal bands of all time that sold millions of albums and terrified your parents. Mixhell will be bringing their incredibly intense and unique set to clubs this fall, starting October 29 in Calgary and wrapping November 8 in Austin. Since forming in 2006 Mixhell have linked up with heavy hitters like Soulwax, Justice, MSTRKRFT, Diplo, James Murphy and Busy P and have sold out out clubs in South America and Europe. If the thought of seeing Iggor pound away on a drumset in the middle of the dancefloor while Laima drops beats from the DJ booth doesn’t seem electrifying you might want to check your pulse – because you’re probably dead.
