MP3: Quazedelic Feat. Snoop Dog – “Hold On”

While producer and all-around artist Quazedelic has played a crucial role in the Snoop Dogg’s music behind the scenes, a full on collaboration between the fonk monk and Doggfather was destiny waiting to be fulfilled – until now. “Hold On,” off Quazedelic’s upcoming debut LP Stan Sly: AnuthaWorld, has the artists combining their smooth, similar styles from separate genres for the album’s first single. Similar to Snoop Dog’s appearance on of The Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach, the result is soothing combination of funk and hip-hop that takes listeners to another place; in this case, Anuthaworld.

About his own style for the upcoming album, Quazedelic says, “I bridge the gap between serious real life songs with fantasy funk tracks.” That is exactly what he does with “Hold On.” The track opens with a deep, sensual voice, “Looking back in my conscious mind, digging back and searching to find…” The lyrics set up a mystic atmosphere where anything can happen. However, many of Quazedelic’s lyric’s are grounded in reality: “I’m Working hard, praying night and day, that something good might come my way.” Snoop Dog’s lyrics serve as an alternative reality, the id of the song, so to speak. He raps, “So raise up off of me, and let me dip up the streets in my 73/ Grey on black interior, black like me, chandeliers hanging with the ass swinging,” while Quazedelic harmonizes in the background. The spectacular dream-world that snoop dog raps about plays against the pain-filled sound of Quazedelic’s harmonies. “Hold On,” helps explain the purpose of funk, and how it can be used as a vehicle to escape from reality.

Quazedelic’s Stan Sly: Anuthaworldwill be available October 5th via Georgia Anne Muldrow’s and Declaime’s SomeOthasShip Connect.

SNOOP & TOMMY THE CLOWN unite to create C.L.O.U.T.

wordsoutpr_tommysnoopA Series of Monthly Battle Night Events to Promote Organization’s Mission to
Help At-Risk Youth

Snoop Dogg recently announced his partnership with famed entertainer Tommy the Clown to create an organization called the C.L.O.U.T. (Changing Lives One Youth at a Time) Foundation. The foundation will aim to provide a creative and social outlet for at-risk youth in order to help avoid the misplaced creative energy which too often results in gang violence, crime, and abuse.

The first event organized by C.L.O.U.T. is a monthly Battle Night. Battle Night, held at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College’s Grand Theater and hosted and emceed by Tommy the Clown, allows young people to compete and showcase their individual talents before an audience of their peers. Youth are encouraged to express themselves through drama, dance, song, poetry or comedy. Geared toward youngsters from middle to high school from the Los Angeles area (with a focus on the underserved communities), Battle Night
promotes a positive and self-affirming lifestyle for kids by developing and showcasing their diverse artistic talents.
