French Indie Pop Sensation SLIIMY Arrives Stateside For SXSW, Debut Album Available Now!

pyfIt’s fitting that both the word “unique” and 20-year-old Sliimy (Yanis Sahraoui) are French.  With his tumble of colors and curls, moods and manners and styles and eras, Sliimy embodies the essence of uniqueness. His debut studio album, Paint Your Face, zips and darts between mournful ballads and exuberant pop-funk, executed with a blend of childlike glee and energy to spare. His unique style can even be found within the art design for Paint Your Face.  Check Morris, best known for his work with Lily Allen, designed the fold-out collage, which features a riot of shapes, fabrics and colored textures.  Meant to represent the inner workings of Sliimy’s thought processes, it’s clearly a busy, slightly baffling place, that’s capable of balancing the tightrope of soaring highs and searing sorrow. Happy’s the word. Sad’s another. Sliimy’s got both bases covered.

Paint Your Face is available now via Itunes or showoff your own unique style by getting the Sliimy Music Tee (https://www.themusictee.com/index.php?section=shop&action=view&id=379)

Composed of more than 300 hits from all over the map, Brain Salad Surgery is DJ Quickie Mart’s pop music thesis gone science project. Unlike Girl Talk or most other DJs, there is absolutely no added production or stock loops in this mashed up insanity of sound. Everything used in Brain Salad was taken from other recordsthat were all commercially released. Also, BSS was mixed and edited by Quickie himself using Technics 1200’s, Serato Scratch Live, and Pro Tools 7.
It was just a short time prior to Hurricane Katrina when Quickie Mart came up in the smoke filled, late night bar scene of New Orleans. Since his relocation to Los Angeles, he has released a number of different mixtapes, distributed thousands of copies, and been featured on a number of other artists’ projects. He has toured every corner of the country as a solo act, as well as with other acts like Galactic, iCON the Mic King, Q-Tip, Cool Kids,Shwayze, The Knux, and Media Darling Records. On top of a heavy tour schedule QM’s accolades also include playing large events like Vegoose, SXSW, and Zen Festival. He has been featured at twice at the prestigiousNew Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, three years at Voodoo Music Festival, and four years in a row at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. He has shared stages with artists such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Jurassic 5, RJD2, Fishbone, Lyrics Born, Joss Stone, Perry Farrell’s Satellite Party, DJ Klever, Particle, Akon, Gift Of Gab, Lupe Fiasco, Inspektah Deck, and Lilly Allen. He has also had the honor of performing on stage with the legendary Mac “Dr. John” Rebennak.
QM has been featured on numerous television programs including Current TV, MTV2, Louisiana’s famous Dew Drop Inn, and NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly as Devin the Dude’s DJ. This talented DJ/producer/engineer has produced countless tracks, including the song “Q & A” by the Lucky Stiffs, which was released on Scion’s Labeless Lifestyle CD. Half a million copies were distributed worldwide. He has worked in the studio with artists like UPT/Universal’s Juvenile, Anti/Epitaph’s Galactic, Fatbeats’ L.A.’s Finest, and Stone’s Throw’s Percee P. After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the rest of the world recognized DJ Quickie Mart’s hard work when he was featured in a three-page spread in URB Magazine’s December 2005 issue. He has also received mentions in Blender, Filter, XLR8R, andOffbeat magazines, and was hailed “New Orleans’ Hip Hop Champion” by LA Weekly. In addition to consistently recording and touring, he holds down a successful weekly in Los Angeles at the Air Conditioned Supper Club. QM also serves as the official DJ for Los Angeles based group L.A.’s Finest, and as the tour DJ for acts like iCON the Mic King, Know One, Malkovich and Gotham Gree
