L.A.’s CookBook and Uno Mas finally unveil their stunning new video for “When You Rock and Roll” off their sixth LP C&U Music Factory! On the track CookBook, Uno Mas and Evidence call out cats who sell their soul for the game. “They used to want advice/now they tryin to son me/It’s funny how the tides change/When you rock n roll.”Undoubtedly their most complete work to date, the 16 track collection features guest appearances by Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), Scarub (of Living Legends), DJ Rhetmattic (Beat Junkies), L.A. Symph alumns Pigeon John and Sareem Poems (aka Sharlok Poems), and vocalist Raquel Rodriguez.

While the world impatiently waits forJack Davey and Brook D’Leau ofJ*DaVeY to release their Warner Bros. album New Designer Drug, we are left to lust after their every creative morsel. Luckily, Jack and Brook have blessed us with a visual for their recently released freebie track “Get Together.” Our favorite genre-scramblers serve up another gem made of one-part electronic music, two-parts soul, a dash of hip hop, and a little more than a pinch of sex appeal with a video that can only be described as a futuristic amalgamation of Tinkerbell meets The Shining.
Directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Veronica Hinds, the video takes viewers on a journey of transcendence as the main characters are lured away from their everyday lives by a floating orb of light that leads them to the entrance of the unknown. When asked about the main concept behind the video Jack Davey explains, “I kept seeing a processional march down a hallway… and wanted to convey the main characters following their light to a meeting place.” This concept was adopted to convey the main message behind the song; transcendence - breaking free of the confines of the everyday to experience a life without boundaries. “People need to step out of their individual bubbles and start connecting with other people” says Jack Davey. “Step outside of your comfort zone and feel something new, try something new, speak to someone new, transcend.” This message rings especially true with fans who recognize J*DaVeY for their refusal to be boxed into a stereotype or genre. When the glowing orb appears in front of you, will you follow it? Are you ready to break away from the confines of everyday life and explore a new dimension with Jack and Brook?

Born Kevin Anthony Jackson, Sanchez grew up in the Stony Hill and Waterhouse sections of Kingston, Jamaica. Sanchez is a Reggae legend and is known for remaking various hit songs. His gift for crooning romantic lyrics over hard edged dancehall riddims has earned him numerous hits throughout his career. DUCK SAUCE RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR “aNYway”, DIRECTED BY JEREMIE ROZAN OF SURFACE TO AIR
Duck Sauce, also known as the all-star collaboration between DJs A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, have released the Surface To Air directed video for “aNYway”, which premiered on Pitchfork.tv. One of the definitive house music anthems of 2009, the uplifting single revives classic mid-90s production formulas that Armand Van Helden helped pioneer, coupled with filtered French Touch-era referencing disco house. The resulting effort became a massive dancefloor hit, supported by many DJs worldwide and notably receiving heavy daytime airplay on Radio 1’s A list.
For the video, Duck Sauce tapped fellow creative compatriot and award-winning director Jeremie Rozan of the multifaceted Paris-based art, design, and fashion collective Surface To Air. Starring Jean-Michel Berlin (set designer for most of the Surface To Air films) and Maroussia Rebecq of the fellow creative agency Andrew Crews, the video revisits an iconic scene from “Ghost”, which now can sadly double as an unintentional tribute to the late Patrick Swayze. Translating the sensual-yet-celebratory feelings that “aNYway” conjures, Rozan’s romantic touch echoes the vision of Duck Sauce’s contemporary update on classic house music.
“aNYway” will be released in the UK October 26th on Ministry of Sound, who premiered their own video for the single last week. The single will also be included on Duck Sauce’s forthcoming Greatest Hits, as a vinyl-only EP on Fool’s Gold Records. North American release details will be announced soon.
