Dirty South’s smash “Phazing” – new music video
Hot off a month long tour of the United States, Dirty South is currently taking the European festival season by storm. The hottest months are booked full-on with dates all over the continent highlighted by stops at Serbia’s Exit Festival, Poland’s Sunrise Festival, Holland’s Freshtival and Mysterylands, Belgium’s Tomorrowland Festival, Croatia’s Papaya Festival, England’s Creamfields and multiple stops at Pacha in Ibiza before another go around in the USA.
This period of non-stop touring comes on the heels of Dirty South’s summer smash, “Phazing (feat. Rudy).” While the original mix and Tiësto’s remix were doing a fine job of tearing up the global dancefloor, Norman Doray recently joined the party with a new remix that adds a monumental orgy of explosive synths and screaming stabs. Breaking down into the familiar guitar lick and the breakdown is a cacophony of strings, white noise and that uplifting vocal that leaves you tingling for minutes afterwards. Simply epic.
“Phazing” is now available for purchase through iTunes featuring the original mix and both the Tiësto and Norman Doray remixes. This is the definitive summer anthem crowned by Pete Tong and supported by world leading DJ’s while smashing the Beatport charts.

WAYNE MARSHALL ‘My Heart’

With a new found energy and distinct sense of strategy shown on his most recent projects, dancehall’s most noted singjay Wayne Marshall has undoubtedly made the best comeback since the start of the new year with a steady number of hits currently in rotation on local and international radio airwaves.
Marshall who is a member of the Solid Agency roster has once again found favor in the industry spotlight with songs like “So Superfly” which features Mr. Raver Clavers himself Ding Dong and more recently “My Heart” a track dedicated to the topic of infidelity that also features the Gully God Mavado on the Official Remix.
Outside of recording music Marshall has been marketing his new image with a number of cameo appearances including a feature in international rapper Drake’s “Find Your Love” Music Video and also the Sean Kingston and Nicki Minaj video for their collab “Letting Go / Dutty Love” shot on location in Ochi Rios in early July.
My Heart is, by far, one of the best to be released by a Jamaican artiste. New Caribbean Cinema’s Michelle Serieux is the producer, and Storm Saulter, the director/editor, as well as stylist, Anya Ayoung-Chee (former Mis Trinidad & Tobago), they all teamed up to create a stellar visual experience that meets international standards. It is evident that a storyboard was drafted and adhered to in this structured, creative and coherent production.
From the location of the shoot to wardrobe and casting choices, one word – flawless. The plot of My Heart (Remix) is very realistic and brilliantly executed. Director Storm left no room for boredom with multi-angled camera shots and multiplexed/split screens, which give the viewer the illusion of being in a hi-def closed-circuit monitoring station. The use of this technique was a great idea, considering that we are in the age of attention deficit disorder (ADD), as each shot reveals newly discovered interpretations of the scenes. This will serve to make the video ‘fresh’ for an extended period of time.
The My Heart (Remix) video has easily etched its place among the most impressive ‘homegrown’ music videos. Memorable and deserving of every accolade it gets, this visual masterpiece complements a song that speaks earnestly of a human experience. It will certainly continue to resonate with music lovers well into the future.

No Surrender “Godda Get It” (Prod. By Radioclit)
Hip-hop hybrid group No Surrender, composed of Mr. Steeples, Seraphim, and Gnomad, set out to make what Seraphim calls “the direct opposite of what a typical hip-hop video might be,” for their first single “Godda Get It”. “In terms of art direction and visuals, I can’t think of anything in hip-hop like it,” notes Seraphim. “I’m definitely proud of that”. He’s not kidding; the video is one of a kind and expertly executed. The music video is trippy, witty, stylish and fun. It has enough blinking lights and powerful colors to give an epileptic the seizer of his life. Plus, it has conceptual substance. “The concept has a lot to do with consumer culture and the general confusion between wants, needs, and desires,” says Seraphim. The chorus, “I want to get it get it,” repeats while a woman’s face changes and eventually turns into a price tag. “Godda Get It” is experimental animator Maya Erdelyi’s first music video.
Emcees Mr Steeples, Seraphim, and Gnomad rap over hard staccato synth riffs while heavy whisper harmonies hold the rhythm. Producer Radioclit, who has worked with acclaimed artists such as M.I.A and Santogold, is responsible for the electro-funk beats that charge the high-energy vocals. The musical equation ends up equaling something along the lines of a crossbreed between Outkast and TV On The Radio – whose lead singer, Tunde Adebimpe, will have guest vocals featured on the album.
“Godda Get It” is the first single off No Surrender’s upcoming album Medicine Babies. It will be the first record on the newZerOKilled label started by former Tricky vocalist Costanza Francavilla. Expect more high-energy blends of hip-hop and electro when the album is released in October.

Video: Zane One – “Zane One (L.A. Woman)”
One of Zane One’s many strengths is her ability to convey a unique and exciting view of Los Angeles through her lyrics. The new video for “Zane One (L.A. Woman),” the Dert-produced single off of her debut album, L.A. Woman, highlights these talents and couples them with scenes seemingly taken straight from her everyday life. “I wanted to capture all the styles and flavor we have here; hip-hop in this city is amazing and so diverse,” explains Zane. These ties to the city run in the family, too, as she is sister and cousin to members of the legendary Los Angeles underground group LPG. The clip includes shots of live performances, break dancing, and even Zane One’s own children. “I guess the only ‘message’ I was trying to relay is how awesome women really are,” she stated, a sentiment that resonates through her powerful rhymes. “I love being an L.A. Woman.”
